I have 5 Kens Original Granddaddy Purple plants that are a month old. I need to know the sex before they go outside in the next 2weeks for there Organic grow. I need to know because I don't want to waste a 20gallon hole on a male. I only plan to do 6 plants outside. I have other seeds that are feminized so I want to get the males out quickly so I can fill the empty holes with some of my guaranteed females. Is there something that I can do to tell sex quickly? I heard of the force flowering then reveg but I'm scared they will Hermie has anyone done this with success? Also I heard of force flowering one branch do any one have a tutorial on this?

I thought about that but I dont have any branches big enough to cut to clone. GDP grows weird my Iced grapefruit and Alcopoco gold was started the same day and they have plenty of branches that I can clone. But the GDP does not.
you can cut a clone and force flower it but that will probably take 3 weeks

If you put plants outside in two weeks, they will probably be induced to flower immediately, with little time to root well. It's better to wait until May.

Ok I will wait till May 2nd to take them out. Do you think preflowers will show by then from veg?

Clasping auricles can be an indicator but not a 100%. Perhaps separating the claspers from the straight to start with. ?

You don't do much of anything "Immediately" with this plant. Takes some time and patience and learning how to adapt to their needs. Gotta cultivate the canna-karma.

Just out of curiosity, why the rush to get them outside?? Do you not have room to keep them inside until you can sex them?

I wouldn't force-sex, then re-veg. If I were you, I would find a way to cut clones...Then label them, flower the clones out, and then you will know the corresponding females and males by matching the labels up.

I know what you mean by plants growing weird, purple indicas are notorious for not branching...Don't forget though, you can always top them. I've never tried cloning the top of a plant, but if I had to guess, it would probably work very well, and beastly at that. That would be my recommendation.

I was rushing because I have another group of beans I want to start for outside for another spot. But I can't start them cause I don't have the room right now. But I'm a wait till may to put them out now. Also I'm a take your advice and top them and root and flower the tops. One more question how does a auto flower yield outside? I have one that came free with my order but I've never done auto flower. Is it a waste of time and energy if done outside?

You could selectively cover a branch for 12 hours a day.

If you get a small garbage bag and wrap it around a branch for 12 hours of darkness you can get that branch to show sex without stressing the entire plant.

I grew out a couple of autos under my 400w.

Each one gave me around 2.5oz indoors

Depending upon your climate you may or may not get a decent yield from autos.

don't know where your at, but unless your way down south you really ought to just wait till mid-may before you permanently put them outside. If your running out of space indoors, put them in larger pots and rotate them in and out to keep the daylength long enough to prevent flowering. It doesn't take much light at the end of the day to extend the daylength. A single cfl over half a dozen plants will do the job.
