Help ! My outdoor Pineapple Chunk possibly has powdery mildew forming! Pics need help with diagnosis/remedy !

Good afternoon hope you're having a great day !
The sun is shining here in Toronto, Ontario and ththe temperatures arent too cold yet! I was tending to my plant and happened to noticed what i think is powdery mildew ! I'm stunned it looked healthy all throughout its life!

It probably needs 4 to 5 weeks still and I'm trying to diagnosis the issue. It's only on a few leads that I've seen so far and it's hard to tell of it is in fact PM or maybe construction dust or something.

Its an outdoor grow, tap water left out for 24hr to water, and some home depot nutrient blend I use once every few days.


Please experts take a look at my picture and let me know what you think !

Sorry I forgot to mention -- there arent a lot of grow places around me to purchase fungicides and cures etc. I have a home depot and Canadian tire that have a good garden section so if you know any good products from there or anything on Amazon which i can get for next day shipping that would be great ! I'm trying to fix this problem right away !

Definitely pm starting in that first pic, not too bad tho. With a short period left I wouldn’t want to be spraying any fungicide on there. What you can do is ph some water to 9 ish and spray the affected leaves. Try not to spray the buds. This will kill the pm and creat a high ph surface on the leaf so pm will have a harder time taking hold.
 
Potassium bicarbonate worked for me. I also used it right up until rippers took her a couple of weeks ago. Didn't seem to harm anything. The only bud I got off her was from a couple of wind damaged branches I took off her the day before, but it's potent. You can get straight potassium bicarbonate on amazon, or you could get Green Cure, which is mostly potassium bicarbonate. You'd need a surfactant for the pb, if you get it straight. You could also use sodium bicarbonate, baking soda, but I've read that potassium bicarbonate works better.
Steer clear of the pills/tablets, some people use it as a dietary supplement. Probably the same type of people who drink colloidal silver.
 
Thank you both for the replies ! I will look into the potassium bicarbonate now and consider doing the higher pH wash. Would you recommend I try a natural solution such as neem oil or a hydrogen peroxide/water mix?

I'm going to the store tomorrow so will be looking to pick up something and a spray bottle to combat this. It doesn't seem to have spread too far only a few affected areas.

What is the best way to ph tap water ? Do I need to buy a supplement to bring it up? I'm very new to growing excuse my ignorance :(

CanadianJim thanks for the advice! I ordered potassium bicarbonate and a misting bottle and will be giving that a try tomorrow. Did you use a certain ratio of pb to water ? Also did you do this during the evening when the sun was down or does that not matter ?

Pineapple Chunk is the most mold prone strain I have ever grown. Keep a close eye on them. Mold loves fat chunky buds. If your outside humidity is over 55% I can almost guarantee mold is in your future.

I use Marrone Regalia for PM. It's the best thing I've ever used. Expensive, but worth every penny.

Appreciate the heads up ! This is my first grow,I was gifted this clone from a friend. I've learned quite a bit along the way and most likely would do things differently on the next one. I've got the potassium bicarbonate arriving today so hopefully spraying it down will help rid some of if not all of the wpm.

I use 1 tsp per 4 litres (about a gallon). I usually used it at sunrise, but at sunset would work too. Most people get a little antsy about spraying buds in the evening, but it is a good preventive for budrot from what I've heard, and I didn't have any problems. I would say sunrise for potassium bicarbonate, sunset for any product based on bacteria as the uv in sunlight can kill them. The potassium bicarbonate raises the ph of the surface of your leaves, so you're covered there. Just be careful, if the concentration of pb is too high your pistils will turn brown, it won't affect the potency, but it can be a little nerve racking.

Hey brother I did what you suggested ! I mixed about 1 tablespoon of potassium bicarbonate and water and gave a thorough foliar spray before the sun came out.

Going to give it another hit tomorrow as well.

I hit the buds too and you were right the hairs went brown orange.


Such a shame if this PM ruins the plant ... southern ontario weather is killing me lol.
 
Update: I can attest to the potassium bicarbonate, it seems to have worked to clean most of the PM!
The pistils changed a tad darker but nothing major. Will have to do a few spot treatments tomorrow but I think I got rid of quite a bit !
