I have a plant given to me by a friend who couldn't move it to his new house.it is 3 weeks into flower.he has it on a 1 1/2 to 2 gallon pot.my question is if i put it in a bigger pot is it gonna make much of a difference or just shock/stress the plant?

I'd ask your friend he should know how to care for the plant. Oh and I'm not being rude it's just there's not enough information to help you. The friend knows the genetics and substrate etc....

It also depends on your abilities...
I would not stress it, and at times I have had to re-pot in flower...
So... you any good at transplanting?
Go for it

i have had to transplant on 2 different grows where the plants were 2-3 weeks of 12/12 and while i cannot tell you if they would have yielded more or gave me better quality buds had i not transplanted, the buds came out IMO just as good as before..

now that being said both the plants i did this with were very durable plants that were pretty hard to stress one was timewreck the other was an unknown bagseed hybrid.

there's my 2cents hope it helps a little.

The real question here is ....How much more will they grow? Some strains really bounce, come the 2nd or 3rd week of bud, others you hardly notice, while some will bounce 4 weeks later or more, better ask your buddy, also ask how long did he intend to bud for, again some guys just bud for a month, others, me too, I prefer to bud for a minimum of 8 weeks, if you intend going anothe , 5-6 weeks ,pot up to another gallon or so to be safe, with minimum hassle to the plant, do it late in the day so she recovers in the 12x12 night ready for the light in the morning

This is a very unreliable rule of thumb and i recommend dismantling it in favor of being more flexible and attentive. When I held to similar "rules" it did me no good and didn't endear me to my friends either. Jmo.

ceterum censeo no harm "potting up" in early flower, especially if the plant could use the root room.

And you should be more attentive as well,if you were you would see that i didn't ask for your behavior lessons or filthy Latin mumbo jumbo.
