And thanks for saying its a small project. I had a smaller project I didnt mind posting but this feels large and some getting used to but thought it was still small but go back and forth about how I feel about it. Then I surf RIU to see WAY bigger projects and this is truely not that big, no different tham having a smaller project. If I am gonna do it, Im gonna do it.

So thanks for confirming its still in the kitty course.

If you have no source for clones nearby, and no friends to get clones off of, you’ll have to either get lucky, or start bean hunting. Hows your reveg game? There are some creative ways you can hunt in small spaces, but it can get a little complicated. You can do something like run a bunch of 1-2 gallon pots of different female plants and then reveg the best one/ones. A few runs like that should hunt through a good amount of seeds in a hurry, and help narrow down some selections. There are also a few threads on taking cuts from plants and then storing those in the fridge for a period of time. If you decide you like the plant later, you take them out of the fridge and root them like normal cuttings. If not, throw them away. It’s a method that allows you to save flowering plants without having to keep a mom tent running all the time, or keep 10 moms alive while you wait for your flower run to finish, in order to decide.

I did seedlings and veg a lot until I had to cull them but now that it is legal as of years ago and living somewhere where I can grow now as it depends on room mates and land lord etc.

So it became legal, I did dirt in a green house with friends and succeeded for an outdoor grow. Then I started my own grow to harvest. I did coco for a year and harvested a few plants, some failed. I quit for a while and I am back at it with dirt, not having good results so back at it with coco with a more promising setup to have fun and harvest a sufficient amount rather perpetuating or all at once.

I really have limited expirience, just took a while to realize that. All I can do is coco and keep green to harvest which can still go wrong, it just didn’t at first just like soil. I feel like I can keep green because thats why coco is fun once you figure out a few things.

I would see journals of people yielding monster yields in coco first try. I grew a monster but in too small space so it rotted but felt like since then that I could make this work as described with some tweaks. Open to loss but hoping for a lot of fun making this work for the most part.

I see people grow all the time on here with similar ideas or so I thought. Hard to perpetuate on a calendar but if youre open to some draw backs waiting for flowers to finish and etc that it should work. Hell I just shared how little expirience I really have so keep the ideas comin, I am too far in to go back. I am willing to keep these three tents. But that square footage is as big as it can get in tents.

Oh maybe it will help if I mention the room is 10’x10’ roughly and half of it inhabitted. hence the difficulty trying find any setup that can do what I need. I hate switching from high thc bho to lower thc rosin, would like to just vape my own rosin. Keep high thc wax for a quick super charge once and while.

Can yall be specific of what to be prepared for running the described setup aside from already mentioned. I don’t think theres anything I havent weighed over and was ok with.

Not to waste anyones time, I tend to follow up to half or all suggestions given to me considering sometimes half advice is mot compatable with other half and what seems to work for me or at least up until it doesnt, helps decide. Could always try other half of suggestions if thats the case.

Inconclusive as of now & still planning on the same idea. Just grow it out and have fun and keep thinking of improvements.

Find a method you like, and learn everything you can about it. Find a few growers who use the same method and learn from them. Everybody does their own little tweaks to their method and has their own style. Take some info from here and there and put together a plan that works for your goals and space. No one can write a specific plan for your specific needs. That comes from a combination of your research, method, space, and goals. Beyond that, keep reading and learning.

Knowledge is freely available. Experience takes time to gain. Just keep doing it and learning from any mistakes, and practicing skills - cloning, sexing, transplanting, mixing soil, and training. They all scale up and transfer, and will get you through a lot of misadventures.

I re-read this and understood it better, thats good info thanks. Will need to look into that. Is that bean hunting, growing all those beans then cloning? What do you mean by get lucky, like if this process was done because the next bean I pop is a keeper?

What should you look for, just overall vape/smoke and finish times, yield etc? Bare with me, last time I got no where figuring this out. I have a small grip on this topic based on my last comment, totally almost missed the answer given to me.

I just thought every bean I popped turned into something great or alright. I see now what you mean, my current setup could be better to suit my needs.

I think I can do a mixture of my initial plan with the latest suggestion and just keep an eye out for what I want/look for. Maybe after a few runs I will bean hunt because based on my shared expirience level I could use some general growing expirience. Also put the latest money spent to use.

You know what, to add to my set up I do have a 2x2x2 that could fit on top of a veg tent to hold all clones I need up until they start growing too big. I just learned how to clone or so I think. Maybe fridge them for a while. Ok all the info is settling in. I am not that hard to please, I could find keepers quick.

Meh. I don’t think it is worth it. White leafs, will take too long to bounce back. Also my clones are flowered a little so it will prob be a pain to reveg so just going to pop another bean. I didnt know until just now.

I will clone everything and fridge it and plant in rapid rooters if I want to run it again. Maybe do two clones of same kind and run that back to back or two different clones until I get bored then will have more money to setup a SOG style bean hunt and then setup another tent to just hold mothers.

Need to learn more about mothering plants. Is this a short cut to that? Is it almost the same as a pheno hunt where you bean hunt but with the same strain until you get the best? I wonder if I will just bean hunt evey once in a while to switch up strains. Like run a clone and one tester. Some kind of test of sorts at some point.

Would need to figure out how to hold a selection of stuff with predictable results. As I understand it, taking clones from veg plants and re-cloning them is a way to avoid a mother plant until you want to stop running that strain for a while or similar reason?

Keep one big (it does take awhile to grow one out, but once you do..) bushy mother plant in the veg tent, and take massive air layer clones (whole branches that are basically ready to flower) that keep growing as they root out, and won't wilt from the lights\fans or not being in a dome like cuttings do, etc. You don't need an extra area to propagate little cuttings, or any of the gear involved with that, like most perpetual growers utilize. Just need one decent sized motherplant filling up a smaller tent, and a flower tent to put the big AL branches in as you chop them away. Say your running behind schedule to get a full canopy in the flower tent, well, just take bigger clones! Every time you chop them away the motherplant will grow right back to the same size in the 2 months the clones are flowering out anyway, ready to do it again. Starting a grow from small cuttings every time is the biggest waste of time when it comes to perpetual growing IMO.

Are you basically saying take super huge clones? That little cuttings will need 30 days to root, 60 to bush out but bigger clones would help with that?

Basically yeah! What takes months to accomplish to fill a tent with a full canopy of veg growth.. starting from small cuttings, can be done in no time, as long as you spend 3-5 months initially vegging out a big mother plant to start with, which will never go to waste with this method unlike taking small cuttings if you keep it alive. Once that initial time is spent then you can take advantage of saving your self months on every grow from then on.

You keep cutting her up and filling your flower tent back up just as soon as you harvest. I would rather keep chopping whole rooted out branches away with almost no waste than spend time pruning the host in a separate area. Trying to keep it small just to take tiny little 2-3" cuttings. You save time money and space by pulling huuuge clones. Just need 2 tents\spaces to do it all in compared to a cloning chamber, mother plant tent, veg tent, flower tent, with extra gear laying all over the place.

You could even chop a huge plant in half (up to 50% without killing it), after rooting the main stalk right in the middle for 3-4 weeks (bigger clones like 3-4 ft'ers (tall and wide ;) ) do need an extra week or 2 afterwords to get a big enough root ball going to self sustain), and stuff the single upper half in the tent right away, so it fills it completely from side to side, then scrog it down flat and flip it right away. Or have 4 good size ones that fill the tent right away too, without vegging them for another 2 months like you say, because you already did!

You'll still need the 30 or so days to root, but it will be right in the veg\motherplant combo tent while they are still hooked to mom, staying nice and perky under stronger light while you train them, before you even cut them away. You can even strap a pot around them with extra medium once they root, and leave them attached.

Its like when you walk to the fridge to get a beer, but instead you walk to your motherplant tent and pull out a huge ass 2-3 month old looking plant when you need to, lol!

Before I shut my room down I harvested every 2 months or so by popping seeds, unfortunately you have get rid of some and all won’t pop so you germ more than planned you could clone but some plants will not

I think I understood everything except for “ you can strap a pot around them with extra medium once they root and leave them attached,” what do you mean by that?

Is a 2x4x5 and 2.5x5x6 tent good for this?

Say you root out a big branch via air layering. You likely would have wrapped some medium up with plastic wrap or whatever, and its all rooted out a few weeks later, but your not ready to cut it away yet... You can slice a bigger gallon or more sized pot ( then stich it back up with a hot nail & some zipties, or just use a bigger bag and rewrap, etc) and fix that around the air layered section again. Then prop it upright and fill it with coco or dirt or whatever medium you choose, and just leave it hooked up. Keep watering it until you need it, over a flood tray of course. Otherwise the plant will suck the small air layer medium dry in no time once it does root out.. unless you just went bigger with large "pods" to start with.

In some states (look up the laws).. even though you have a single big mother plant, with multiple branches coming out with more stitched up pots that are still attached, lol.. it's still technically considered one plant. In other words, you could keep you legit plant count to a minimum with a perpetual grow using this method. Especially if you whacking the plant in half by taking 2 monster sized clones that will fill your 2.5 by 5 as soon as you cut them. You would only ever have like 3 plants, depending on when you cut the huge clones away, right after you dispose of the old carcasses first...

Oh wow, so if I understood correctly, I just looked up air layering and thought that was what you meant but was thrown off by wrapping medium around that. Is that correct, you start off a root then wrap some more medium around it or do more smaller ones?

If so, cool. Totally a surprise method to me never seen before. Was hoping to work with less but bigger fruitful plants though unless bean hunting as I just learned.

Yeah it involves air layering, which is a skill I highly recommend everyone try out! You can root out way bigger clones, as big as you want granted you have it to take.

You could keep one bigger mother plant in the 2x4, and mainline her in a way that will allow you to keep taking monster sized clones, and regenerating new big ones from the other branches as you flower. You could even stagger 2 big plants (if you go that route, with 2 single plant scrogs) in the 2.5x5 flower tent, so you harvest one side monthly (with fast flowering strain) and spread out the work. Adding a new big sized clone to fill the harvested spot right away each time, while also prepareing the biggest branch to be cloned. If the timing is correct and you get a big mother plant going (go ahead and run some small cuttings while you wait) you can pull it off with your setup I'm sure. I'm kinda baked atm and its hard to describe my crazy method, so i'll draw some kind of flow chart like picture up for you, lol.

I think I am understanding so far, it is new to me but I been lurking about how to grow for years as well as hands on so I can keep thinking about it and possibly try it out. I sorta main lined before and made like 65 shoots. I am digging this idea.

Very out of the box thinking unless you knew about air layering already. I surely never seen it nor with weed.
