Help Me Make A Good Set-Up

I have about $350-400 to work with.

This is what I'm thinking, feel free to tweak it as you wish.

  1 x600W MH

Grow Room?? OR more money on room and no nutes??
Was planning on building a 4feetx4feetx7feet (lxwxh) room with 2x4's . Not sure -what would be the best thing to use to line the room inside and cover the 2x4's with on the outside with this budget?

Any suggestions on what I should do? Downsize to a 400w HPS/MH? OR will I be able to build a proper $75 room? I also was considering a carbon filter with inline fan which would be around $100 total. I don't know what to do? Also how loud is a setup like this? Do I need both an intake an an exhaust or will just an exhaust do?

If you decide to build your room,the best thing to line your walls with is mylar. 100% reflective material, tho really expensive, works the best. If you can't go the mylar route, you can always paint the walls with flat white paint. Not as reflective (only about 70%), but works just fine.

You really don't need a filter now. So don't waste your money. I just bought a intake/exhaust set up for $15. Just make sure you have a couple of fans going to circulate the air. I have a 4x8x8 room with 2 fans and a exhaust fan.

And I didn't mention my lights, I only have 1 1000w system going. Once I get rid of some bud, I'll move my other 1000w in my room, to have total illmunination. And my veg room with have a 4 foot T-5 set up, which is a 2x4 closet.

I agree with shadow, i use T5 HO for my veg, also nice to be able to put multiple different bulbs in em if youre trying to get real technical.

thats all good advice bro but i would go with a 400 watt just cuz ur starting out and it will give u good covarage also for veg i would go with cfls they work just fine in VEG ONLY and cheaper than t5 i would recommend it especially if its ur first set up but if not and u have a few grows under ur belt i would get the t5 and the 600 watt u also got to thing about ventaltion having and the heat bro that u will make in ur room, my rule of thumb is always invest top dollar onlighting and ventalation system those two are so important on keeping aa clean healthy grow room then i would go with ur genetics and then last nutes u ca grow dank with anytype of nutes as long as you know how to use them and know what ur plan needs at the right time. thats my 2cents hopefully i helped

spend most of ur money on the room bro in the end it will be worth it cuz nutes run out and seed get harvested but ur room is where u nurture ur babies u want the best enviorment for them and 400w will cover 4 x 4

What type of exhaust did you get?
How noisy are the ballast/fans/everything at night?? ..can you sleep beside it?

Why not use the MH bulb? I have cfl's from my first grow which was insanely dank but small yield (1 plant). Now I want to do it "properly" and get an actual yield. I thought $400 would be enough but it doesn't seem like it
The reason I'm looking at a 600w to a 400w is because of this:
600w MH/HPS KIt - $250
400w MH/HPS KIt - $210
--Over $40 is it worth it to just get the 600w one time.

Would I be okay with just an open vent with a charcoal filter (like how cars have, but not an actual car one .. one for vents). No exhaust fans. But I'll have a oscillating fan and can keep the room door open for periods of time throughout the day(during light periods). How much would this hurt yield and growth? -> Then I can do a nicely framed room, with drywall on the outside, and mylar on the inside, ventilation vents, a door...etc..etc..

edit: I just found a 400w for $150 @http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Dimmable-Ballast-Reflector-Accessories/dp/B004YXDLCS (HOW IS IT?)
It's a $100 saving from the 600w, then I can get a carbon can filter with a 4" inline? Would that be good for exhaust?

Get the 600...if u want some real decent yield. And i understand u trying to save cuz weve all been on that boat before...but a couple of months from now u will regret not gettin that 600 which will probably end up costing u more cause then u really wanna/need to get it with the money already invested on the 4 banger

So go with the 600w and no exhaust system this grow? .. but then i'll probably run into high temp issues right?

hey bro i would go with the hps beacuase u will get bigger yields and when mj plants flower they need that red spectrum to fully develope u will see a major diffrence in yield and quality mh lights are used in veg cuz thats the type of spectrum the need during that time. yes it would be bro it would work fine. it wont affect the grow at all just make sure ur tems dont reach past 90 cuz then ur plants will start to stop growing. unfortunatley 400 wont get u much but its good to start with bro u can get ur lights and vent system as long as u have those two main things ur grow will come out great. when u get the end product u will be quite happy and surprized bro. dont get the 600 cuz it would be harder to control ur temps butif u want go for it i hope i was of some help

yes u will bro but u got to remeber to get a good yield it all depends on the grower and how well u train and veg ur plant the longer u veg the bigger the yield if u lst or scrog or mainline u get huge yield with a 400 when i got my first hp light it was 150watt and of one plant i pulled 6 zips cuz of the way i trained and veged my plants. look into training ur plants bro it makes a worldd of a diffrence also check my spacedawg grow out it might help abit. good luck and remember yield depends on how u train ur plants its not always the light but they do have a big part in it.

I'm probably going to go with:

3ft x 4or5 ft box. . Drywall on the outside (painted white this grow... until i can get mylar in the future)
600w hps/mh
No exhaust/intake system yet.. But I will leave the grow room "open" (mesh screen?) during for at least 12 hours a day. less depending on how stable I can keep the temps.
Standing table fan inside
Soil SCROG. with 4 / 5 girls (fem seeds)

Hey, thanks for those two links! That might be enough savings for me to be able to include a exhaust system. I didn't even think of poly! Nice price on the hps system too (and it's dimmable!)

you can even watch jorge cervantes set a room up like that its pretty easy but I built my frame differently so I didn't need help I just framed regular walls then stood them up and nailed them together easy as pie just took a few hours.

Don't bother getting one of those parabolic reflectors, very little light is reflected by that style of reflector. If you're wanting to get a cheap reflector the "batwing" style reflector made out of a sheet of aluminum with two bends in it is a much better choice, or you could just hang the bulb down into the center of the plants and do a coliseum style garden.

Totally off topic but blunmassa1..do u have any experience with that digital setup or anybody for that matter...would like to know cuz that price is really calling out to me..

Could i use this instead of poly? Is it the same thing? (If not then I'll probably order the poly) Otherwise I can pick this up locally.
