Help me choose

Im looking for advise from someone with either first hand experience or technical knowledge who can explain their recommendation. Im curious, I understand that during veg the plants crave more of the bluish spectrum (6500k being ideal) but that they also still use a small percentage of reds, which is why some people blend their bulbs 3 or 4 to one blue to red, then red to blue during flowering. I have a bubbleponic tray with seedlings for 1/4 strength nutes, then another bubbleponic tray with full strength for initial veg. which do you think would benefit more from the blended spectrum light, seedlings or small established plants a few weeks old? for ex... View attachment 1883852. do you think the older plants would benefit from the blended spectrum more? I know the redder spectrum will grow encourage faster growth, but they will stretch more. and the bluer light will slow growth but will keep the internode distance very short, growing short but fat and bushy plants. Would new sprouts like the red light to make them grow quicker from the seed, but possibly lankier or stretchier... or would the established kids like the red light more to encourage overall growth? Who should get all blue and who should get blended? Thanks for the advise and Im hoping to spur on some good discussions about it. SHOW ME YOUR SETUPS!

Looking good. I'm not familiar with your growing medium so can really comment. I plan on using bothe spectrums when my plants start flowering. Only makes sense to me, nature doesn't pick and choose. How old are your plants? My setup and journal is listed in my signature. check it out.

Actually in my opinion a 1/4 blue to red and vice versa per stage, is more natural. Even more natural would be a full spectrum. And I think a mid to late stage plant is going to be affected faster due to more vegetation. But start at sprout.

Undercover Cop" paranoia of your handle aside, if you're using T'5's you might try the blues for vegging and when you're ready to induce flowering you can make a change to reds. As far as staggering them, some people do, but I haven't and I've had good luck just changing over. I hope that helps. HSA

I guess I'm just curious if a blended spectrum is more important at any certain stage. I'm currently blending with my cfls and also my T5s, was just curious if all blue might jumpstart seedlings a little better. From experience growing vegetative using all 6500k's I've noticed that when I add a 3000k t5 tube or a 2700k cfl they respond and grow well but start to stretch (usually they have less than 1/2" btwn internodes).

Stretching seedlings usually end up stressed in my experience... All blue better for the first week or two to establish itself as being shorter and squatier??? Or blended for the more natural spectrum???

never say never man. Most of the are pretty good guys if you don't fuck with them. You have to remember one thing, they are always right no matter what until your lawyer proves otherwise.
