Oh, I keep my grow temps around 77. Preference I suppose. I like it under 80 almost all the time.
i would like mine a bit lower but i havent got my tent yet, and i dont want to be drilling holes every where to put ventilation in

So if I got a 400 watt hid light would installing it cause attention from the fuzz in any way or is 400 watts being used 12 hours a day a usual thing????

you wont notice it using it during the day but with the suns heat in the summer time it might be better and more efficient to have them on at night.
I know a guy with 5-1000 HPS in a house and noone says anything because they dont know. My neighbors dont know and never will. I am discreet and polite and when asked about any smell i always say its the birds in the lake above our property shit in the water and it flows down to us. They are old so its easy.

Right on dude :D!!! So I can buy a 400 watt for one plant with no problem? Even electricity wise? Dat'd be great

Ok so I think I'm going to order the Sun System 2 HPS 400W 120V for $228.10 with the hanging ropes and the glass cover included. Is that a good price? Has anyone ever used this light? If so what you think?

Sounds like its a sealed hood with the tempered glass, if it is youre gonna need a fan and some ducting. Running a 400 watt HPS in a sealed hood without air coming in or out is gonna get super hot. I would strongly suggest against running it without a fan and ducting.

I have a 400 watt HPS that I use thats sealed and cooled w/ a fan in and another on exhaust. It keeps the temps in my grow nice and cool.

Ok so what about a 250 watt hps? Would I be able to run it without air conditioning? I'm trying to keep it simple.

Im not saying that you need AC,after reading your OP Im not sure you even need to cool the light.......it all depends on the area youre going to use the light in. When Im talking about cooling I mean w/ an inline fan and some ducting. You can even get away w/ a small but powerful home fan (i use a Honeywell high velocity fan, $24 at Walmart). The fan simply blows air through the ducting and into the light to cool it and then out through more ducting. If you use weaker fans just put in on each end, one for intake one for exhaust.

If it is in a confined or small space, you probably want to cool the light. If its in a room and theres plenty of space you wouldnt have to cool the light, just move air around w/ fans.

In SeeMoreBuds, "Marijuana Buds for Less". He takes three 6" round reflectors and three '1 to 2 bulb' adapters and uses six 26 watt cfls. It would be perfect for 1 plant. Two reflectors on the sides and you could even slap two 42 watters in the top one. That's what I plan on doing with my 2x2x4 tent.
That's only 150 watts just keep the light as close as possible without burning. I've seen quite a few journals with light setups like that that produce 2 oz's dry per plant. If you choose CFL, keep the plant pretty small since the light intensity isnt as good as an HID, but youll save heat problems and $$. Hope that helps some.

Thanks everyone for the help but I think I will say no on the growing idea. It would be nice though to grow my own jewels. Just not worth it if I don't got a doctors written notice. It just sucks not getting the medicine I need. Oh well though. It's only human to manage it on you're own.

Hey since you live in texas, I've used texashydroponics.com with great results. Usually I go to the North Austin location, but they've all been very friendly and knowledgable over the phone. They are a slight bit more expensive than some internet discount sites, but I liked being able to go to the store and grab what i needed asap/pay cash.
