Greetings RIU.

I found some long-lost seeds today from some plants I grew a number of years ago that got pollinated by a male in the neighbor's plot. I kept these seeds and actually grew them for a number of years as my go-to strain because I loved the aroma and flavor so much. I've had many strains that have had "undertones" of many different scents, but this strain had an intense black licorice aroma. It was floral and mildly sweet as whole buds bud as soon as you broke a bud open, it was almost like a short, but again, intense burst of pure licorice aroma, much like star anise, and very short lasted compared to the other characteristics. I know for a fact this aroma must have come from the plant because it was persistent in most of the plants that came from this batch of seeds (at least those that were female, of course) and because I didn't use and foliar sprays of any kind that would have altered taste or smell.

Has anyone ever had any strains with a similar Aroma? If so, what were they? This particular strain is Sativa dominant, although I am completely unaware of the genetics behind it.

Also, is anybody aware of any lab tests that show results for Anisole content in Cannabis? I found it listed in a number of lab analysis but in all cases, the amount present was listed as being undetermined.

I had some phenos last year that had a berry/plumeria floral smell & they seemed to produce a purple liquorice type taste, They came from gdp x green crack. Very very strong plumeria floral smell in flower, literally didnt smell like weed lol. Ill try to find a pic

Blackberry kush taste very similar for me, never grown that one though.

they mostly had that indica body melt effect but i did pick the more indica leaning phenos, they plumped up rather quickly so its probably not what your looking for.

It did taste like blackberry, grape & sage, almost candy like even though it finished 8" away from a 1000w bulb lol.

I Would have kept it but i prefer the heavy purp/pebble taste, Sorry the quality sucks, had to screenshot the pics from a social media app.

Ive had pure anise smelling plants, my blueberry muffin cures up to unveil the anise smell, not that rare in the cannabis world. Funny thing I really do not like black licorice but I dig the anise smell in cannabis.

The Ewe 2 that I grew had a distinct black licorice smell. Personally I didn't really care for it, but it was unique.
