Help i fucked up .....

So today I made my 3 stepsons and son lunch and made.my way upstairs i asked them to stay downstairs and keep an eye on their brother .
The youngest of the three came upstairs after bout 5 mins to ask us can he go outside .
The storage cupboard outside our room is where my grow box is the door was open bout two inches I was in my room with the door open just grabbing my phone .
I heard a knock could see out but didnt see anyone then realise ld he must be nearer the grow door looking in the gap .
My heart sank because the door has a light leak at the top of the door I know he saw it .
He never said anything he is 9.
Also doesnt have a great memory.
My head is wrecked i am a week and 2 weeks off harvest of a do si dos and dark ghost train .
Any advice on what to do should I just carry on as if nothing and just tighten up the security ?
We cant come clean because they dont know we smoke and its ripoff central here hence growing .
I know he would probably forget in a day or two and doesnt know what it was but my brain is fried and it's only been an hour

Don’t worry about it.

if the child mentions it then say something to them.

I can’t comment about what to tell them but I remember when my 4 year old woke up when I was in my room, I have a stud wall erected to cover my closet door etc.

I turned around and he was there.
He’s now 9 and hasn’t mentioned anything at all in that time but it was during the time he should be asleep so could have thought it was A dream etc.

Educate your kids bro. The mentality of hiding this from our kids is silly. My kids could sit there and teach the average stoner things about this plant just because I've educated them. It's a good thing, remember it's just a plant!

I’m in the UK and the “hey teacher my dad has plants growing in a cupboard behind a fake wall” wouldn’t go down too well with Children’s services here in the U.K. LOL.

Cheers lads I do feel better about it now I have seen your replies as for educating them we do but it's illegal where we are and kids sometimes talk to other kids other adults and say stupid shit .
If they were all 18 I'd have no bother is telling them I smoked but I wont be growing then .
Hopefully it will be legal here by then it keeps gettin put back I love my kids.

And do prefer to be honest but it's the one secret I'd prefer to keep as long as possible.
And with the pandemic jihad no choice as I couldn't travel to get good stuff me and partner both have sleep issues so use it to switch off

But that's exactly why its hidden I fucked up and left the door open before returning to lock it up I have spent the last two hours with him and he hasn't said shit so I am gonna have to ride it out my shits nearly done and I need it

This is a tough one, if it's illegal where you are, but I still think it is best to be honest with your kids so they don't accidentally tell someone what they saw. It's impossible for them to keep a secret unless they know it shouldn't be talked about.

But if he doesnt know what he saw in first place maybe I should say nothing. Its meant to be where I keep my personal shit knives and tools and camping gear so it's off limits to them anyways .
Maybe I could make up some shit if he does ask I'd love to come clean but with the legality issues id prefer to stay quiet about it .
If he ask I'll just say it's a box where I put.my knives to protect em from rust if he asks .maybe fs .

The guy who taught me the basic of growing has been growing since before it was legal here and he has always had his young children help him so they would learn to grow and to make it more normal for them. He told his kids that he was growing herbs but they couldn't talk about it with others because it could get him in trouble for growing them in the basement. He didn't go into anymore detail than that and the kids were always great about it. But all kids are different and some kids could also be little pricks and tattle on dad for punishing them for something they did.

I have a 9 year old. He knows that the plants are mom's hobby, but we don't go around telling folks about it. We (hubby is on board) educate him on the biology of the plants when/if he asks questions, but for the most part, its "can i play fortnite?" We've made a very clear line of "family stuff" thats not ok for public consumption and everything else that's ok for discussion.

Not to say it doesn't cross my mind, but what we as adults are doing is 100% legal (where I Iive).

So the way I see it is like this... If the youngest is 9, and he's the one who came up and saw it... you're kind of oblivious. I don't mean it as an insult, I promise. But if you're two weeks away from harvest, in a cupboard... at the very least the older two smelled that shit by now. Let it be. And like Macsnax said (sorry I cant rep yet smh) we need to educate our damn children. ESPECIALLY where it's illegal. Maybe 1 out of 10 kids, if that, will resent their parents for "doing drugs" but it's OUR duty to explain what it is, and why it's considered bad. Then you gotta worry about the motormouth kids, sure. But how do you know what your kid will do if you just totally ignore it and not give them the respect that you, they, and the cannabis community deserve? This war is/was always being won by a combination of both openly rebelling, and hiding in the shadows. I'd much rather hide from my neighbors than my own children. Good luck dude, and don't rush the cure lol!

There ain't no smell cos it's in a large ply wood box in the cupboard with carbon filter and the rest I left the door open to get my phone from other room the doors are next to each other the kid came up the stairs fairly quietly to be fair and possibly saw in the crack of the main door I was on my way back out he just wanted to know if he could go outside on the swings .
I agree with education and legalisation.
But my home state doesnt agree and until they do I gotta keep my dirty secret or at least until the boys are all old enough to understand .
My missus was on heavy medication for a couple of yrs and it fucked her up hence why I started growing for sleep meds .
And have been doin so for 3 yrs or so on and off depending on local supply .
This was the only fuck up I ever made and I already am beating myself up over it I always locked that door I hadn't expected the lil dude to come up but now as it's almost done I'll have to ride it out and then take a break for a long time I'd say maybe better off .
Cheers for all the input lads I'd love to be able to share my grow knowledge with people here and the benefits of natural meds .
But as of yet shit sucks here in ireland

Here's a Hail Mary attempt to fix..(depending in how big your plants are)

Remove the cannabis plants to another closet just prior to there lights out..(making sure kids arent around to see)..Buy some tomato plants, herbs ..whatever...and place them where the cannabis was...

Once veggies have been moved into your grow room...Show the kids the grow area with the plants (they probably wont know the difference)...tell kids you wanted them to see, but that you don't want them going in and out of that area because it lets in bugs that will eat them so please stay out..(gives kids and explanation) and now you have an excuse if it ever comes up.." Remember that time?".."Yeah, I was growing tomatoes"..Once they've seen the space with the veggies..you're finished there...Give the vegetable plant you got away or whatever...move your Cannabis back where it was originally and finish..Then give a rest before you start the next grow..

Just a thought..
