help hps stopped working

Help - I am three weeks into flowering and my hps light went off last night on the timer and wont come on again this morning. I have tried a few bulbs,and the MeH works in the ballast (switchable) and hood. Can I pop the MeH back in or will it screw my buds?

If you don't have any other light the MH will suffice until you get another HPS. The spectrum won't hurt them but they won't grow as fast.

sounds like the ignitor went south on you go get a plant max conv bulb i can look for a link for one for $28 shipped what wattage

btw i use these same bulbs in my 400 watters
but i didnt order there i went to hydro store and got them to price match when they were $28 and free shipping

You guys really are the best ~ hanging out in here and saving my butt on thanksgiving! I guess I better not mention this on the what do I have to be thankful for roundtable later, but I am saying it now - THANKS

I don't think the ballast is still under warranty, it is just around a year old..
regarding the bulbs and the ballast, are there two types of ignitors in my ballast if it is switchable? and if so, will the one the lights the MH light the conversion bulb but not the HPS bulb.
Just trying to figure out if I should go buy an new ballast or just try the conversion bulb.

I have some spare HPS bulbs, but none of them will light. That is why I am wondering if the ignitor that works for the MH will work for the conversion bulb. I guess I'll just order the bulb. They wont ship until Monday, so no time lost with my musings here..

your ballast has one ignitor just for hps MH bulbs have ignitor in bulb so the conv bulb will have ignitor in bulb so it works with mh ballast
u can replace ignitor also if u r handy

if you dont have an extra hps bulb to replace the one thats gone bad then i just stick back in the MH bulb on the same time length until you can get around to replacing your HPS bulb. Your buds mite not get quite as big or potent but it sure beats loosing them all
