HELP HELP HELP

just started week 7 flower on my first grow ever, everything’s gone great but today for the first time I noticed I have a small sugar ant problem. I can see them going up the stock of only one of the plants. How can I handle this without fucking up my so very beautiful buds ?

I'd follow the trail and see if you can track it to outside where it hopefully is.. then spray it. If not look up advion ant gel. Comes in a syringe, find the spot of entry and inject a pinhead sized dot. It's a slow acting poison that in theory will be brought back to the queen to feed on and kill the colony.

Not sure ants are harmful to cannabis. May be beneficial just a thought

Put cinnamon powder on top of your soil.

The strong flavour will make them go away.

You could have aphids.

Diatomaceous earth, topdress 1/8 inch layer on topsoil, and watch them avoid it at all costs. I also line the outside of my entrance with it, they will not cross that line.

Could use some of those yellow sticky traps as well theyre pretty cheap.

I'd say aphids. Ants don't just crawl on weed plants for no reason. They're farming aphids.

Yep, and for aphids, I'd avoid spraying buds but would consider using very mild soapy water on the stems and leaves. I prefer Dr. Bronner's.

Iv had ants climb up the Stalk. But that’s because they are eating the aphids lol. So I’d clean up the best you can. Look for other insects that’s the ants could be eating. And the cinnamon thing works great.

They are milking and herding them.

Aphids tend to like stalks and the underside of leaves, particularly new leaves. I'd go through and also smash 'em with your fingers as much as you can too.

Correction: Ants aren't beneficial, spray a product like Plant therapy diluted @ 1oz/gal on and around plants with lights off, wait for plants to be dry before flicking on any high powered lights. The oils in Plant Therapy will deter almost any pest if applied weekly and adequately.

Aside from their tendency to bite us, ants can cause other problems in the garden. Ants are fond of the sweet sap of host plants. A diligent group of ants chewing on a plant's stem or trunk is capable of girdling and even killing a garden plant. In addition, ants will cultivate and protect other damaging garden pests.

Thanks I checked my statement and I'm definitely wrong. I know my buddies outdoor grow had tons of ants and zero problems with bugs other than that and the plants flourished. I was more going off personal experience than fact. My bad.

No worries. I once thought ants were great for aeration in the soil lol
