Does anybody hang carbon filters that are for 10 inch fan? I think its 14 inches in diameter...the room is just 5x9 and i have a 4x6 table going in there so space is tight...i am thinking ratchet straps screwed into ceiling joist with flat washers.....anybody have any better ideas...8 ft ceilings 1/2" plywood on ceiling so options can vary...

Pipe strap would probably work, you could use ratchet straps too. How much does it weigh? You definitely wanna hit a joist or stud, don't want a screw to pull out of the plywood.

If you use pipe strap, secure one end of each strap then have a buddy hold the filter up there while you fasten the other end of the pipe strap.

That document tells about the safe working loads of the straps. With 2 straps the load should be roughly split in half, 3 straps in thirds...

Copper pipe strap will hold 70 pounds so one strap on each end would split the load. Honestly I would go with whatever is easiest for you to install. With a ratchet strap the hooks will be the weak link so don't over tighten the strap and cause added tension on the hooks. Put the hooks thru the plywood and into a stud or use a piece of 2x4 as a backer since it won't pull thru.

That is a small fan though....mine is 14 inches in diameter and 40 inches long....weighs 50lbs without the fan...but i still wouldn't trust those backpack straps they scare me...

Occasionally check the lag bolts to make sure nothing is loosened up.
I definently plan on it.....still seems sketch with 300lb ratchet straps.....but wont have plants under it....

@Renfro do you know anyway to quieten down a 10 inch inline fan...even on 35% its super loud....like air noise i may just have to put ducting or something on it...or break down and buy a muffler for it but do they actually work? Sorry i kept tagging you renfro you just seem to be active and also very knowledgable.....not many people around still from back when i started this account....

Also incase yall want to see what i got going in my little 4x2 here is some jawa pie by ocean grown genetics was gifted this cut from a good friend....it has the sweetest blueberry muffin terps ever....lol....they are 12 days in or so....4 rootballs in dirt handwatered. going to coco ebb and flow in my new room

Duct mufflers help some. I have my 10 inch vortex running at about 45 volts on a variac and I can't hear it. It still tries to turn my 2x4 tent inside out.

Side note.. Make sure that your filter and fan are hung well and supported bc last grow I had a filter fall and break some nice branches.. Sucked! Now after i put my straps on and everything is in place....i duck tape the straps to the bottom of the filter and add extra support just incase.

Happy Growing

I am guessing but...
My fan/filter setup is over 30 pounds. Probably a 25 pound filter by itself.
A 2x2 tent in my case.
