Brita will get the chlorine and some other stuff out. It takes mine from 120ppm to 60ppm. So if my water is at 60 and I want to add nutes at say 300 ppm, then I'll put 240ppm nutes in to total 300

Hydro doesn't make lower quality by any means. You can still do organics in hydroponics, then you've got the best of both worlds. Use coco as a medium and you're there. A lot of people think all hydroponic weed is like the stuff they call "Dro" but its not...that dro is just some shitty beasters....When you use good nutes, the proper setup and have a lil bit of a green thumb, you can get the flavor and smell soil grown has. But I will say I've had more good smoke that was grown in soil than I have hydroponics. Now days though, nutes are a shit ton better, and hydro is no joke man. There was even an article about in last months mags I read...don't remember which. Having said that we still plan on putting some in soil outside when it warms up.
