Should i cut off the lower/smaller buds that don't get as muchf light as the ones on top? Will cutting off the lower/smaller buds increase potency/yield of the upper buds?

no.. you shouldn't cut them.

you could do a little lst to get more light to them
or when you harvest the upper buds you could leave the lower ones to develop for a little longer

or you COULD cut them if you want

no i would not trim them... only trim the plant during vegetative growth that way is can recover from teh injury, then rebound and keep trucking. If you cut them during flowering it tends to retard their development. Its like smacking your six year old in the head while he/she is learning their times tables.

even tho light isnt hitting the buds theyll still grow cuz the overall plant is getting light and growing still id leave the plant alone unitl the buds reach full potential

The hell with that, cut them off, the plant can quickly heal those wounds , now it won't waste its time trying to grow bottom rung fluff bud. Instead it will work on the main cola and make it dense and big!! I cut bottom growth on the 3rd and 6th weeks of flowering. It works!

:bigjoint: I'm scared my plant will die if i cut off the small buds :( the leaves are already wilting a bit.

same! Its my first grow, and 4th week of bud'n, should i leave those tiny stretched buds growin way down low? Also, should i trim the smaller leaves comin out from the actual buds, some are quite large, and i cant find anything online.

Thanks

Only if it gets you a bigger yield. :)

But really, cut them. The best way to learn is to try it yourself, and if its your first grow you need as much experience as possible. Right?

if it was me... i would trim the really really small ones that are wimpy, keep ones that might have potential, sometimes the lower nugs have more THC than the top colas :)

no trimming... because if you have other problems the it's USUALLY the older leaves that are effected first... say nute deficiency for example...

If they are barely getting light and starting to wilt, I would just cut them off, because they honestly aren't going to grow a bowls worth of bud and it's just going to be a waste of energy. just concentrate on keeping that top strong. your plant won't die

Should i leave those tiny stretched buds growin way down low on the plant, or will they fill in with buds?

Also, should i trim the smaller leaves comin out from the actual buds, some are quite large and appear to be blocking some light

Thanks

heh 3 year old thread but ill try to answer your question vishall. with only a few under my belt, my advice is two sided, yes cut off the lower branches, however , it being your first grow i say let em all go, it will show you when you are finished, what branches aren't worthy of keeping (with your light setup) and then next time around you can either add side lighting and beef em up or trim up to send juice to the top. trimming lower branches makes watering easier somtimes too. oh and dont touch those small bud leaves, they frost up real nice later and have a million uses. just some things i've noticed

4 weeks, exciting time during flower. i wish i had somthin going right now

Cool! I did notice frost accumulating, I added some cfls to help out the lower buds cause i heard it cant hurt...I've only had them on for a day now, so i cant say if its helped or not.

Oh yea...Ha I was lookin for a response similar to my question and i found this old thread so i figured why not ask!
