Help diagnosing.

So this is exactly 2 weeks since it broke soil.

75 Fahrenheit, 50% humidity. Mars hydro ts 600 at 18 inches, one 8 inch exhaust desk fan bodged into the top exhaust outlet which I'm sure is giving enough exhaust flow, incense smoke flow test showed reasonable suction, passive intake setup.

Biobizz light mix, 60/30 soil to perlite. Didn't give any nutrients until it had 4 leaves. Using biobizz grow at half to 2 thirds strength in tap water that I've let sit for atleast 24hl hours so the ph balances before adding notes and rebalancing

Ph of final watering solution is always approx 6.2/3

But I noticed it could be bigger by now and there is noticable reddening/purpling of stems.....which i always get. All I can think is it's possibly calmag shortage due to living in a definite soft water area?

Also noticed slight taco looking fan leaves?

So I've got some biobizz calmag coming and I'm wondering how much to give it? It says. 0.3ml per litre of water for prevention and 0.8 for deficiency?

How big is the pot? I grow in coco so I may be wrong. I thought “soil” should be more in the 7ph range and a “soilless mix” would be where your at with ph. Again, I am not up on the biobizz soil or what it consists of. Some soilless mixes like sunshine and pro mixes have a charge in them. Or they did years and years ago. I think I remember some coming off the shelf with over 2000PPM. The EC meter will allow you to read what is going in to your plants and also check what is coming out. You will be able to see if they are eating all the food you are giving them or if there is an abundance. Genetics can sometimes play a role in this as well. I had a few subcool strains that were slow veggers.

You're probably loving it too much. Give it plain water for a couple times and see how it responds. At least that's what I'd do in soil.

Ok I have one coming by Friday. Ppm/ec/temp multi tool How do I fine tune my grow with it?
1st I must apologise I thought it was a hydro set up.
However it's still a valuable tool for mixing up the correct strenth feed and it will give you an advanced warning of salt build up.

For now I'd just give water then when you're tds meter arrives you'll be able to mix up the recommended ec and then measure your run off.

With both soil and coco 98% of my troubles have been caused by using to many additives to often or the environment, a dry hot environment evaporates the moisture and drives up the ec.

My pot is a 8 litre/2 gallon smart pot. Ph in soil should be kept at around 6.5 at max apparently. The biobizz light soil mix is basically a nutrient free/light base so you control what the plant gets as soon as its finished consuming its seed reserves. The mix ph of 6.2 out of the bag. As I've said my tap water is about as soft as you can get....30 ppm quoted by a local water treatment company....so awesome drinking water and not artificially fluoridated....but obviously therefore lacking in calcium/mag etc unlike harder water.

Tbh I've only fed it a few times with low strength/ half strength nutes mix as it's in early veg and I wanted to avoid stressing it etc. All my other plants go the same way with purple stems and I read that it can be a sign of a lack of calcium/mag....which my 30ppm soft water would be lacking

The guy that makes biobizz says to use it every water but to divide the dose so you dont overuse and burn your plant, the entire range is organic and friendly to microlife in the soil....even the ph up and down solutions are soil life friendly. I.e the grow nutrient is made from sugar beet. So I dont think huge salt build ups are even going to be a problem unless they come from my water in the first place.

I think I'm going to start filtering it Instead of leaving it to sit for 24 hours, that should still dechlorinate and get rid of any other unwanted garbage and when I add some calmag (also from biobizz) it should (hopefully) be really nice water for the plant.
