So I had six (two-week old) seedlings goin under a couple compact fluorescents. Unfortunately I broke one of the CFLs, and I know one won't be good enough. Until I buy new CFLs, would putting them under two 34w cool white fluorescent tubes be okay?

I wouldnt recommend interchanging hps with mh unless your ballast is rated for it. Just buy a 400w hps bulb. You would never go back to flourecents.

i would go buy more work lamp sockets and y splitters...cost about 6 bucks for a work light socket and about 2 dollars for a y splitter then get urself a bunch of daylight cfls...i got a 2 pack for 7 dollars a piece the more lights the better and if u dont have the money to go HID or HPS. then go the budget route thats what i did and it working out great for me. just make sure u get the correct color temp spectrum bulb...more of blue spectrum bulbs are good for veg and ..red on the color temp spectrum is good for flowering gl man keep us updated and lemme know if need ne help

cool white bulbs are made for flowering...those floros would prob keep them alive but they are NOT the ideal color spectrum for the veg state...just hurry and get urself new bulbs

Just buy the right bulb for your ballast. A 400w bulb is the only bulb you can use in your ballast correctly. A 400w bulb will be cheaper than buying a bunch of splitters and sockets for cfl bulbs and you will get way more lumens. If you already have a good ballast then just start right. Dont mess with a bunch of florecents and a spaghetti mess of wires. just start with the right lights!!!
