HELP!!!! Carbon scubber not working

Hi I recently setup a 6" inline fan with a 6" filter that the person at d grow shop said were compatible n would work awesome i told her i thought id need a bigger filter n she said no i didnt need it. it is setup as follows- scrubber-duct-6" air cooled light-duct-fan-duct outside - today my girl said it reeked in the hallway of the house and when i open the cab i can smell it tough- what is my problem do i need a faster fan or maybe slow it down? here are the complete specs on the so called matching scrubber and fan: 6" hydrofarm fan 268 cfm - 13X12 active air carbon filter 100-200 cfm - i have another 6" fan thats rated at about 500 cfm - should i switch em out - or should I get a speed controller - what do you guys think any and all help greatly appreciated MORE FIRE

How big is the room? Sounds like your room is bigger than your filter can handle.

Remember it is better to push the air than pull.

A bigger fan will push your filter past it's capacity.
