Help a stoner out!

I have a closet that I am going to grow in: its 6 1/2 ft long/ 2 ft deep / and 8 ft tall.
Any body have a clue which setup would most likely produce a larger yield??: 2 400 watt air cooled HPS covering about 6'x2' or 1 600 watt air cooled HPS covering about 4'x2'.. +rep for feedback, what setup would u use because i hear the 600's are most efficient, and produce fatter buds.

The bigger the HID, the cfm fan you'll need in that space. I grew in similar dimensions and settled with 250 watt HID in a ventilated hood(summer) and open wing(winters)with a 400cfm windtunnel + 150 watts of cfl clamp lights under the canopy for seven/eight plants and a 30" fan blowing at 'em. I yielded more than 8 weeks of bud for me and wife. And we typically smoke over an ounce a weektogether

I'd use the two 400s but only because I'd personally want to use the whole space, and at 800w/13ft^2, thats about 61w/ft^2 as opposed to the 75w/ft^2 you'd get with the 600 which is a bit much for 6x2 area.

Of course, if you're going to be using the room for like ten years, use the 600, it'll pay for itself in lumens eventually. But in the short term two 400s seem like a better option.

Ignored your question. All things being equal it seems like you'd get a better yield growing more of the right-sized plants with a bigger canopy under twin 400s than taking advantage of the penetration of the 600.

depends on how hard it's going to be to cool the area, what factors come into play with the ventilation of this area? I'd probably do the one 600 and just not try to cover too large an area with it, you know, just use the middle 4 feet and leave a couple feet on the sides for access or for equipment...

/agree on heat, no matter what you do, ventilation is key.

I have a similar area (4x3x10) for flowering and went with the 2x 400w. The main thing I like about having two instead of one is the light distribution. It's incredibly even compared to when I just had one lamp going. There's also less shading issues because of the disparate directions the light comes from. Two lamps also give you the ability to mix spectrum to tailor the light more if that is something that appeals to you. If it's a question of a 600 or 2x 400's, even with the slight increase in efficiency with the 600w, you are still getting significantly more light with 2x 400's.

You'll be solid just spring for a good ventilation system!
