Help 1st Grow ... Leafs turn light green /yellow !!

Hey Whats up !
If Somebody can help me im worried my leafs are turning more and more to yellow.. i wanna do something before its too late.. They are on day 13 since sprouted.. under 2 40w cfl and one 45w !! i got 3 inches from plants .. fan running.. temp is around 20 25 degree celsius .. humidity dunno. ph dunno .. water with bottled water every 3-4 days.. i added once some nutes less than 1/4 of dosage (14-6-18).. 7 days ago !
I did a research and it seems identical to lack of Nitrogen. Not sure! Maybe shes starving for more nutes? Let me know Guys!!

Thanks,

day 12

For one don't give them nutes they are way to young, and what soil are you using? Also get your PH straight. If you don't monitor your PH then you will never be able to grow! PH is one of the most important things in growing!

okay, that seedling looks completely normal. it is not or does not look as though it is yellowing, rather growing in light green which they can do at that age. u dont say what soil u started with (did it have any nutes or not). generally seedlings dont need any nutes till at least week the end of week #3. it can take a week before the nutes u fed "show through" the plant. why bottled water? u realize u will missing alot of ur secondary nutrients when u water with bottled vs tap water. now I do go through a few waters (a LOT later on) with bottled water, but not as a mainstream in leiu of tap water.

Ph tester is on my list for tomorrow.. i didnt find miracle grow when i transfered them... so i bought the best one they had at that moment.. its says to use the soil with ph between 5.5 and 7.0.. so i took it..

thanks for quick reply

Switch to Fox Farm Ocean Forest on your next transplant and get a PH tester ASAP! My PH fucked my first grow and I can't stress it enough that your PH is imparitive! Also thexception is right they don't look odd, alot of seedlings do that so no worries right now. But get your PH straight and don't add nutes till they have a second or third set of sharp leaves.

i was worried cause my other one is different .. Sprouted same day !
So you suggest i use tap water and let it stand overnight ?

this little gal "might have been stressed due to double timing its way to the surface (if the tap end was pointed the wrong way upon planting). what do u mean by let it sit overnight? For the reasons I previously stated, at this point I would be using ur tap water, yes.

switch to happy frog, not ocean forest. ocean forest is too hot for seedlings and many young plants. youll get great results with happy frog. I do use ocean forest in bloom, so im not sayin its a bad soil at all.

I did the 24h soaking then in towel i Waited till the root had 1 inch then I transplanted her root down into soil! I think she got a Little stressed when i transplanted her cause she didnt grow for about 3 days! Got myself a hanna ph tester from craigslist 30 bucks :)

I have grown in FFOF from seed bro and never had a problem. But I guess it could be a lil hot for some strains, I have just never had a problem. FF products are awesome! Highly recommended.

yeah im only sayin for some strains. theres a lot of people on here that use it for that, and i use it as well, just in bloom though, cuz it is great soil. I just like happy frog or even light warrior for starts.

Should be good with that tester. FFOF self regulates to 7.0 ph so if you ph your water before you add it you will be fine! I PH my water before I add nutes to the water and roll with it. Some test before and after they add nudes to the water. I had an digital one but got rid of it and I just use the liquid test kit, $9.99 at local hydro store. GL brotha!

hey guys , quick update.. i think its getting more yellow.. and the first pair of leaves are dying you can check the difference from my first post.. the tip is curling up and the reste of the leaf down..

just keep an eye on it, i dont think it is dying, rather experiencing very typical nute burn as such a young seedlings. Almost all seedlings do & will exhibit some yellowing/browning on the tips if they r grown in any soil w/nutes because at this age it is just a bit too much for them, but they generally only experience a bit of it & they survive & thrive just fine. Hopefully that is all that it is, as long as ur ph is on target.

And damn my local hydro shop doesnt have and even dont know whats Fox farm is !! But the soil i have Right now is the same that they usualy sell its called Pro-mix!

I am having the same problem. I have two seedlings in rockwool. It's day 5 and one of the seedlings has developed small brown spots on it's first set of serrated leafs. I have also been giving them bottled water, but that was because I have hard tap water. The tap water has a ppm reading of 315. I thought that would be a little much for the girls. The bottled water has a ph of 5.5 and a ppm of 30. I have been giving them only a few drops of water whenever the top of the rockwool feels dry I would say about 1.5ml. Both of of the seedlings just popped yesterday. since then i have been keeping them under a 23 watt bulb until they started showing some root growth. Sorry about the sad looking pics i was using the crappy camera on my phone for lack of a better one. I was thinking that I may have given them a little to much water.Oh and the temp is 85f and they are about an inch tall. any feedback will help as this is my first grow and I am still learning.:weed: img0663.jpgimg0472.jpg

okay, i know this is not going to be comforting but chilax a little. it has only been one day, & it looks no worse to me, only brn on tip, that is what u said....if it was progressively worse I would be alarmed. here is the bad thing about the affects that take place in the plant, usually they do not manifest themselves for 5-7 days AFTER the fact, meaning after they have been neglected, overnuted, heat stressed, anything, so there is no quick fix. When u r sure of overnute, then u can immediately flush, sure of underwater, u can water, & still it takes a day to a few days to see them start to look healthier again. And sometimes no matter what u do, even if u do everything right, it could just be bad genetics or a bad seed. Keep watch on it, not obsessively so (peeps with their newborns, lol :)) and adjust accordingly. As long as ph is stable, they r not too close to light unless cfl's which u can really be almost 2" or less from them, or heat stressed from too high of temps,& r being watered properly (not too much or not enough) there is not much else u can do right now as it is still a seedling & less is more & u shouldn't have to do much of anything.
