Help! 125w CFL w/ 2700k spectrum

Has anyone used any of the heavy duty CFL's? These things use 125w so I'm guessing it's about a 500w equiv. My question is whether they work in a regular light bulb socket, and whether or not they're actually any good. Thanks guys!

Here's a few links to them:

-Hydrofarm - Hydrofarm FLC125W 125 W Compact Fluorescent Bulb - Warm

I'm not totally sure what to think. I love the thought of having nearly the same spectrum as an HPS, but not having to worry as much about overheating. Plus, it'll make Al Gore smile to know I'm lowering my carbon footprint at the same time :peace:

You know I always appreciate the advice Knowm. I got much respect for you compadre.

thats the light i'm using... it will not fit in a regular socket from a lamp but they have ballast at homedepot that fit this just get a hood from your local indoor grow center and you should be good... i was running two of the blue spectrum and now i have one blue one red since flowering....

i had to get an extra socket, cost me 7 bucks with the cord and mount to add the reflector to it. Got it at a grow shop so at a hardware store it shoul be cheaper.

yeah, I figured I'd have to get a few mogul sockets. Not an issue, the hardware store here kicks ass. How do they compare to HPS as far as light and heat goes?

ive only used CFLs but they work well and heat is low, ive got 250 Watts in a small box (good ventilation) and my plants are fine.

What I'm thinking is that I'm going to build a wooden frame covered in cardboard with a mogul socket on each end. Cover the underside with that wrapping paper that has mylar underneath it and pop in a couple of the 125w 2700k CFL's and hang that on the ballast of my budding chamber. What I'm hoping for is that this will basically give me the effect of a 1000w HPS that I can keep closer to the plants. With the mogul bases, would I be able to plug in an HPS or MH if the CFL's weren't looking right?

Also, I want to side light with some bluer CFLs and some UVB lights. Anyone have any good suggestions on UVB lights to supplement with?

Ya man 2700k cfls are used for flowering. Generally 2 23 watters or 1 46 watt will be OK for one plant indoor flowering. Make sure that your plants are no more than 4 inches away from the light(s) or else it will cause stretching(Closer is OK though, CFL's can generally get about 1 inch away from the plant without burning it).

One 46-watt CFL will be okay for one plant indoor flowering? What?? Have you ever done this? If so, can u post some pics of it?

There's no way that's true. Maybe if you were growing a plant that would reach like 7 inches tops.

I want to keep two small plants (Taiga and Polar Light from DP) in a tent of 120cm (47 inces).
A 125w cfl lamp should be enough isnt it?
