Sup guys and gals. This is the journal of my first grow. I will be growing some Lowryder #2 in M.G. Organic soil. I dont have any nutes because the soil should provide enough nutes for its entire 2 month life. So if anyone knows of some good nutes for my situation let me know. I bought a grow tent, and will be using 500w CFLs. I plan on putting a shelf in my tent so i can grow 2 rows of lowryder. Here are a few pics for starters.
My germinating seeds...

My Grow tent...

My first 5 pots... I will post up some picks once the shelf is in. (few days)

Once my seeds are germinated I plan on putting them directly into the soil, I have got mixed feed back from this, any info would be great.

MG organic soil or Mg organic potting soil? They are not the same, you can use the Potting soil in containers but not the garden soil for container growing. If you use MG it feeds for 3 months and your grow will be over before that so I wouldn't add any nutes, but then again I wouldn't use MG soil .

I got the potting mix by MG. TY for clarifying because I had to double check.

Here is what it looks like now.

Looks nice. Be sure and only make the hole in the soil a 1/4 inch deep when you get ready to plant your sprouts. You may also want to find some thick books, so you can raise and lower your plants as they grow in respect to your lights. I would expect them to stretch a bit if left like it is.

So all 5 of my seeds germinated.

I planted them today, and got my pots closer under the light.

How many days do you think I should give them?

Normally, after a few days they should pop. I've seen it take as long as 5 days before. It just depends on the plant and how far down in the soil it is.

nice set-up. wish I could get a tent, don't really have a dark enought area for a total 12/12 a flowering time. I have 3 mix dwarfs that I just put outside. They are 22 day's old, just repotted 2 days ago, potting soil, perilite, blood meal, worm castings. since there is no veging time for them I can leave them outside and now I have room for my clones. 3 mango, 3 big bud, and 3 hindu kush. again, nice set-up and good luck with your babies.

It looked like most of the beans had really good strong taproots so unless you just planted them way to deep you shouldn’t have any problems so just be patient and they should all pop out. Some may take a day or two longer depending on various things right down to individual plant vigor but you should be cool and the gang so just sit back and relax and let Mother Nature do her thing.

I never grew with CFL’s but even with the wattage you have you might still be far enough from the lights to get some unwanted stretch. Maybe others here who have grown with similar setups can tell you better so maybe measure to find out how far away from your light you actually are and let people here know and the people with actual experience doing what you are doing can tell you if things are ok or not and listen to them instead of me but based on the few people I have known that did CFL grows they seemed to have their lights closer to their plants, or plants closer to their lights depending on how you prefer to say it.

Thanx guys... I will try to work something out to get my lights closer. But, I will say these are not your typical CFLs. They use a larger socket than a normal bulb, and are 500w CFLs, reach 6500k on the color spectrum and so fourth. Even ones that look similar to these arent quite as bright. But I will still try and get them closer.

in 24hrs two have already broken through the dirt. It was the seeds with the longest taproot. I just read somewhere that it is better to germinate them till their tap roots are kinda long, and those were the ones who broke through first, so... anyways here is a pic.

Lehua, got any pics of your plants?

I have this soil, MG organic potting, and I have LR #2's on the way.

Ill read the ferts from the back:
NPK of .1-.05-.05

Notice the decimals?

You could definitely use nutes. It only has a tiny bit of nitrogen in it which was helpful for me when I transplanted. Also a lot of it is water soluble nitrogen so it seems like it depletes quickly.

I just ordered the Hesi soil nutrient starter kit after reading tonyjejo and the other fellows threads on LR 2

Schweet, I will look into getting some nutes then.

Here is a quick update. They are about 10 days old. Do you all think they look decent sized for 10 days anyone?
