Hello from Minnesota: I'm Dank with decades of experiene & wanting to share my seed collection with like minded people

Introduction:
Hi everyone, after four years of browsing this forum, I’m finally taking the leap and introducing myself. I’ve never joined or shared my work publicly before, largely due to paranoia and a desire to protect my family, but with legalization and a sense of security, I feel it’s the right time to step out of the shadows.

My name is Dank—an homage to my uncle, a cannabis pioneer who cultivated some of the most iconic strains during the '70s, '80s, and '90s. My uncle’s name was Dank, and together with the top-shelf flower we produced in California back in the mid-90s, we helped lay the foundation for what we know today as the term "dank" in cannabis. Back then, in the Midwest, people were stuck with brick weed—green or brown and full of seeds. When our flower hit the scene—skunky, loud, gassy, and completely seedless—people started asking specifically for "Dank's Bud." With my uncle Dank, myself Dank, and our friend Dankrious, it’s fun to think we might have coined the term as we know it. Sure makes a lot more sense than being compared to a damp basement—because let’s be honest, that doesn’t exactly scream, "Smoke me." Whether it’s true or just something we like to believe, it’s nice to think we’ve left a little mark on the world.

I’ve been growing for over 30 years, keeping my work quiet after moving to Minnesota and raising eight kids. But now that legalization has changed the game, I’m ready to share my knowledge and genetics with the community. My expertise lies in outdoor farming, where I’ve developed a specialized terraced growing system on the Mississippi River bluff. This system harnesses natural elements to produce absolute monster plants—averaging 3-5 pounds per plant, with some reaching an incredible 11 pounds. Not bad for Minnesota’s short growing season! These techniques allow me to grow outdoor flower that rivals nearly anyone’s indoor buds thanks to the unique challenges of our climate.

Indoors, I refined my craft under the guidance of my uncle in the '90s, where we produced flower that made any grower proud. Today, I’m combining those foundational skills with advanced genetics from top-tier breeders like BeLEAF, Humboldt, Ethos Genetics, DJ Short, Rare Dankness, and more. My passion for phenohunting has allowed me to discover incredible expressions, from plants that grow like vines to mind-blowing triploids.

As the creator of Dank Gummies (The Original Dank Gummies made with Live Rosin and Full Melt hash) Full Melt Hash Expert and a lifelong cultivator, I’ve never shared or sold my genetics before. I’ve kept my work under wraps to protect my family and passion, but now I want to ensure the legacy of these rare strains lives on. I’m here to connect with others who share my passion and who can be trusted to take detailed grow notes. I want to collaborate and share my massive seed collection, preserving these genetics for the future. There’s a good chance that among my tens of thousands of seeds lies that one plant that could change the cannabis landscape forever.

It would be a shame for these treasures to go to the wayside, so I’m inviting others to join me in preserving this plant’s history. Let’s grow something unforgettable together.

In the pictures below was my cross of Permanent Chimera and High Octane OG which forced me to take the top off my greenhouse topping out at nearly 14 feet and almost 10 foot accross. The buds we absolutley amazing - Picture of buds with logo were indoor version cryo cured and the other two pics were Outdoors naturally dried and cured.

Welcome to riu and I agree hoarding genetics and never sharing em only helps to make it easier for them to disappear plenty been lost already best we not add to it I think

I have a large enough grow to fit some new stuff in and take notes. That Dank looks very nice. I like the old school looks.
I'm just wrapping up organizing all my seeds and should be done shortly. Let me know what you're looking for, and I'll see if I have it. I had to rethink my approach after last year’s survival-of-the-fittest method. I sowed 2,500 seeds, culled most of the males except for the strongest performers, and chopped all the weak and small plants. In the end, I had 37 amazing trees.

Unfortunately, some punks got to them. One day I noticed one missing, and by the end of the day, they had ripped down and chopped every single plant with machetes. When I caught up to them, they had the plants in a giant pile, shredding the immature buds and wasting everything. God, I hate idiots.

This year, I'm taking a different route and trusting folks on here—which, honestly, I should have done from the start.
On another note I do have some good crosses from this year, I have 8 mothers from this year’s grow, all winners, and I managed to monstercrop them. Two of them, an aggressive cross of Dip N Stix x Tricho Jordan & Winter Sunrise x Perm Chimera were absolutley insane but I dont know how the monstercropped ones will fare so ill let you know on them as welll. I’m about to take 32 cuttings from them and I just got done cloning 12 from each that im going to flip them straight to 12/12 to see how they perform. If they turn out as good as I think, I can include with some seeds.

Hey, welcome to RIU. I’m sure the community is interested in the types of strains you like to work with, being an older head and all. There’s some cool old stuff that could breathe fresh life into the tiring market of today. Can't wait to see some more!

Yea, I would love the company and help as Ive always did my grows on my own to stay under the radar. Come on up anytime, we can go over past grows, current strains, seed collections and now im starting a tissue culture collection in order to keep more genetics on hand. Here was one of my favorites Ive worked on. This actually had real flowers that would open up with many layers of small green pedals with a shit ton aof nanners in the middle. Hardly any hairs and even though all the nanners it ended up having no seeds due to it being a triploid. I lost this one in my fire and ive been pissed ever since

a Stoney day road trip sounds awesome. It’s hard to make local grow friend connections. I’m in.
Learning Tissue culture is on to do my list.

Hello Original Dank welcome to Riu

@Tmik
Hey bud, how did you get on with tissue culture?

The chances are you know more about than me, i've a question you can maybe answer?

Would that be enough for tissue culture or would the age be a problem?

I don't think it's going to grow, It's unimportant but if it was I wondered if that'd be enough to save it?

I wouldn't mind trying tissue culture at some point it does appeal to me.

I haven’t done tissue culture yet but I have a YouTube degree on it.

To answer your question, you need about a match head of living tissue so in theory your sprout would be enough but…no one would want to culture and propagate a failed sprout. It would be a lot of work for likely a sickly plant result.

Lol good one!
That's encouraging to hear, I'm going to look into buying a flow hood or maybe make make one depending on the cost?

Thank you
