Hello,
This is my first grow, I have chosen to grow my 8 plants vertically with a thousand watt dual arc bulb. I vegged my plants under a 600 hps (I know im supposed to use a mh but i got a really good deal on the hps) my plants average 38"tall and 24" wide I vegged them for two months. I'm growing hydro. So here is my ? I know alot of growers, and they are really proud of how I am doing with my first grow, but no one I know grows vertical. Ive decided not to rotate my plants( I've probably spent 100 hrs reading on how to grow in the last two months and these are what has made me decide the things I do) my plants are one week into flowering and I can see the bud starts and now im concerned about the bud starts on the back side of the plant. I have OCD. So I was thinking tonight about tying down the front of the plant a bit to expose more light to the back buds. I would like to hear some theories of what you all think about tying down the front of the plant. I will post pics tomorrow when my gf brings my camera back over.
p.s. when I say front of the plant I mean the plant facing the bulb, and the back being the dark side

Welcome, I dont see why you wouldn't rotate your plants? I rotate 1/4 turn every 12 hours.
Because, there is alot of debate weather to rotate or not. I did start my flowering by rotating my plants, but a grower friend of a friend claims to pull 4 lbs per 1000w light by not rotating his plants and he has tried rotating his plants and not rotating his plants. He says everytime he didnt rotate his plants his yeald went up.

I am in agreement...definitely need to read up on that. That is the first I heard of it. If you hear anything else about it or get some good solid experimenting going, let us know. It will be some good info for all of us to have on here. And I feel you on reading for 100+ hours. Took me 2 years or so to get comfy and "knowledgeable" enough to even start. Good luck with it man.

Well heres what i did last night. I added a second light its a 600 hps but on tuesday im switching it up to a 1000 dual arc. I decided last night that most people that grow horizontaly trim the trim the bottom 3rd off the plants to let the upper buds get there energy. so lastnight trimmed off the backside of the plants that wearnt getting light today i didnt get to look at them till 9 tonight and i was nervous all day about it but they look amazing today. im not telling you what to do but im seeing good results so if fell better about what i did last night. it was very stressful lastnight cutting them up my gf who really doesnt have anything to do anything was there and said she cant watch me do it cuz it stressed her out lol. sorry if im rambling im kinda drunk lol. btw i gotta work a double tomorrow but i will take pics on tuesday

In am in need of some help I am new to the growing world I have some beautiful girls about 60 days old and some of my leaves are turning a rust color and they are dry I have been watering once a week and I don't know what's wrong

You know I have heard that for vert bulbs, not rotating is good. However, I still think under a hood/reflector, rotating is better than leaving alone. More light = more bud.

Yea, I only veged that way and I rotated them then. Now I have a 6' light mover that I'm going to use to vegg. This time I am going to veg vertically. Im also switching to dwc on this next crop.
