sorry your firs link doesn't work ... second link is for self tapping wood...
if u go down the link I posted there is a shorter version for the same screw .
i use ideal holders which goes with m3 or #4 screws ,but also the ideal reflector adaptor which goes with same diameter but needs more length .Sorry for not making my self clear it was late at night.:bigjoint:

I'm gonna use 1/4'' which is equal to 6.3 mm...and i got that from growmau5 list
Are u using the ideal holder for 3590?
is that 6.3mm length ? i think thats cool with the holders by ideal ,not shore it can go throw withe reflector connector...
Its also depend on the thickness of your heat sink base,i would like to get the thickest tapp i can get,so go all throw the base.:bigjoint:

Why not? Aluminum is soft, the more threads the better. How dose going through the sink change anything? Just curious... :) I added to my post the same seller at Amazon has 8mm and 10mm lengths... :)
I just thought you werent supposed to but If everyone is going through the heat sink should I just use one of those drill bits that about a 1/4" up the bit turn into a tap? Rather than drill the hole, then use the tap piece after.

u could i gees ,never used one of those, seems hard to control,u will need a drill with slow speed and sensitive clutch not to brake the tap in the hole .idd go with a drill and a tap or self tapping screws for metal, there are to kinds, one that cuts the grooves and one that just press the metal to make the tap, since its aluminum i think the second kind is better,if anyone with better experience knows better idd like to hear his/her opinion pleas :p:p:p

not a big fan of self tapping ..i work in construction and if the tip breaks its a pain to get it out and secodnif you can't then you got to move your hole cob..just some thoughts ..if you are gonna do it say make a small pilot hole ..then screw in by hand so they don't break ..if you don't wanna use a tap.

So will the above post links be what I need? What lengths are the screws for holder, and lens holder?

yes 5mm length is ok,i wold go a little longer, if your sink base is 6-7mm i wold go all the way,i wouldn't use this drill-tap combo, idd use a drill and hand tap (with a handle ) separately unles you got the pole drill or taping machine :peace:(remember to use tapping oil for drill and tap,wd-40 is ok to for aluminum) theres alot of god taping videos on utube :bigjoint:

I ended up taking my cob holder and adapter in to the hardware store. the old guy grabbed a gauge dial and measured the thickness of everything and came back with how many screws I needed, with a t-bit that fit the screws pan head, and that Kodiak bit that airwalker16 posted from amazon. not sure of the screw size or length and now I can't read the writing on the Kodiak from scratch and use.
shout out to the small town hardware store. wish I would have gotten all the sizes and stuff. I live in the middle of nowhere, when I am back in town will try to remember to get info but cant promise. those star head or t-bit head screws are right. way better than Philips head. that tap and drill all in one from Kodiak is right too, just keep it straight/plumb up and down. I bet that allen head screw is better than a phillips head too

Kodiak wad the exact brand you used? Haha. But honestly guys, can't I juSt drill a hole with the bit that comes with the tap, and then use steel screws to just screw into the aluminum? Theyve got plenty of self tapping M3.
