Heat

I have a plant that hasnt even sprouted yet, but i ran into the problem of heat. I hear 75 degrees is a good temp for a grow. Well, the grow room im using is on average 80. This may be ok, but i stuck a thermometer in the soil where my CFL hits the plant, and its about 85-88 degrees. Any suggestions? For now i put a large industrial sized fan in there, but i know that wont work forever. Thanks:cry:

If you cant bring cool air in from anywhere else fans will have to be your best friend.

as nrage said- fans are your only akternative if you can'tget fresh air in. Also how long has it been planted for? How moist is the soil?

I'm going to try to transplant into a smaller pot, because my light hangs into the pot i have now and theres no exhaust for all that light heat. I think this will help, but is 80 degrees to hot? I know that once september rolls around it will cool down, but for veg it will prolly be around 80

80F is not hot at all, in fact that is within the optimum growing temperature of cannabis. Once you go above 85 you are slowing down the plants processes but your plant will still grow just fine. They can grow in 100F as well, just not as quickly as they do between 75F-85F.

Also make sure that CFL is at least 6 - 8 inches away from the soil right now. When a seedling is poppin up you don't wanna fry it. Only a litttle light is needed.

I planted it yesterday, the soil is moist about a half inch deep. I'm trying to think of a possible way to get air from my A/C'd room(connected to my grow closet) into the actual closet. Since this is a stealth grow, this may be hard.

Thanks for this! my CFL was about 2 inches from the soil, which definitely accounted for some of that excess heat. Also, to add ventilation i put two holes in opposite sides of my pot so the fan can be put to good use =D. I feel better about my grow now, knowing the temerature isn't as much of an issue as i thought. My fan will help me out:hug:. Thanks everyone
