Equatorial strains will be better .. but I've found that any plant will tolerate heat as long as its grown through the cycle hot..it seems that when lights..etc are added soddenly that problems happen... I grow plants outside right in an AC fan exhaust and it gets to 95f +.. +humidity but they do fine... IMO.. Luck.

Mandala Seeds has some good heat-resistant strains. One thing that really helps is giving the plants a bigger pot. Giving your plants more room for their roots can really help mitigate a lot of stress that comes from high temps.

In my experience you should go for a strong Sativa-Indica hybrid like White widow. Will take a bit of heat and still finishes up in a reasonable time.
I grew WW from Nirvana in a wardrope that was running consistantly at around 35%c lights on and it didn't show any stress at all. Perpeptually for about 8months, Yeilded shitloads.
Also white widow is pretty much idiot proof, a good strain for beginners if thats what you are.

I've been researching what strain to get. I have two requirements, as stated above it needs to be able to handle temps of 86-90F (will be grown in these temps the entire cycle) and it needs to be relatively short or at least SCROG-able. I've *always* wanted to grow white widow...would this plant be fitting for my needs?

Afghan is both short and heat resistant. I grow it for pain management as I am a med card holder. A friend grew some White Widow in a closet with "too much" light (hence too much heat) and it held up okay. There was a little burning of the leaf edges, but otherwise the plant was healthy.

I would say killaminjaro, kwazulu, & from nirvana kaya gold.
I am looking for a harty strain also heat, cold, bugs, mold resistant! The tree above are on my list just looking for other recommendations! This is for 2011 but I'll only be able to tend to them once every 5 to 9 days.

+1 If the root temps are stable most temp stress is mitigated. That's why you see plants outdoors in 100 degree weather surviving but indoors they die. Outdoor plants have the benefit of the roots being deep underground where that 100f air can't penetrate. Basements are great for this because the floor is always cool.

I live in Texas, and i've been thinking of my outdoor grow next summer, i have gotten many strain suggestions you need to do some research.
Check out Afropips lineup, he has the whole African seeds which are obviously great for heat resistance...
If your gonna have 95+ degree weather most of the time you will need to be watering more often than what you are wanting too, i have not grown yet but that heat will dry up the soil quick quick quick, you might also want to invest in an automated watering system if you won't be going to your area for more than a couple days.
Just my 2 cents.

from where i am standing right now which i am growing a few strains no matter what it is. temp going upto 36-40 c. anything will work as long as you water it when needed.

I think you just have an incredible affinity for strains who's names begin with a k. the probability for doing so is 1 in 26 x 26 x 26.
