Heat Problems

Hello everyone I am having some real heat issues and I'm not sure why anymore. I have a room that is split down the middle by a wall that I built, obviously one side is my flower room and the other a veg and work area. The flower side is the side that I am having issues with as it has much more wattage running though it.

Here is the set up, the room dimensions are 11ft wide, 5.5ft deep, 8ft tall, I have three 1000 watt 8in vented lights, with 800 cfm exhaust fan. There is also a 1000 watt light running in the veg room. all 4 of the lights are exhausted on the same 8in 800 cfm fan, and all air being pulled through the lights is being pulled directly from a portable AC. There is also a 400 cfm exhaust fan in the flower room that exhausts the hot air out of the flower room to the veg room. So to be clear all 4 lights are on the large fan and the air used to cool them comes from the veg room, there is also a 400cfm fan circulating air out of the flower room and pulling air in from the veg room. The 400 is also puling against a large carbon air filter. As noted before the air being pulled through the lights is from a 7000 BTU portable AC, the ducting is taped to the AC so only cold air can come through the lights. There is also a 10000 BTU AC in the flower area, however that is one of the issues we will get to later. I think this basically covers my set up as confusing as it all sounds now that I am reading it lol, if you have any questions post them and ill try to get back to you quick.

The air inlet to the flower room is low about 6in off the ground, the air being pulled out is all being pulled of the top of the room as the air filter is hung from the sealing. All testing that I have done has been late at night thus the coldest part of the day. I also have a fan speed controller on the 400 cfm fan and have tried slowing the speed to try to keep the cool air in the flower room. In other words I have tried all the "no shit" solutions lol, not trying to be a dick just trying to save everyone some typing.

In so far as temp I have no problem keeping my veg room in the mid 70s the flower room is a different story usually running in the low 90, to real high 80s.

So here are my questions, question one is pretty obvious and is this, if any of you have any idea how I can get my flower room under control please, please, please tell me how to do it. The other is a question about my AC units and will be addressed in the fallowing paragraph.

I hope some of you have experience with with potable AC units, I know a window AC would be way better but to my knowledge you cant hook a window AC up to a carbon air filter which would be a problem for me. So here is the issue, as I mentioned before I have two AC units a 7000 and a 10000, however no mater which one I put in my flower room in starts short cycling. At first I thought it was getting back pressure because I have both exhausts running though a T and then out. This is not the issue I ran both AC units in the flower room by them selves with the exhaust running through the wall by its self and both of them short cycled. If you don't know what short cycling is it is when the AC kicks on for just a few minutes but then shuts down for much longer in order to rest effectively making the unit useless. Neither of the units have this problem when they are operating in the veg room. The only thing I can guess is that the room is too small or the negative pressure some how disrupts the unit. If anyone has any idea why this is happening please fill me in.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

your setup sounds confusing and strange.

I've never used a portable air conditioner so I cant help you there.

Run your lights on a closed loop. Intakes from outside the room, exhaust outside the room.

Air condition flower room.

Go from there.

Portable AC's suck.
Is your exhuast mounted on the roof? Heat does rise.

I would put a high powered fan pointed at the lights.
Get a window unit if you can,

they are telling u thet ruth Portable AC are crap
look at the btu rating and the maximum cooling area compared to a window shaker (portables just raise your power bill and gets u a little cooler)

here just make a swamp cooler
https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/justugh.597604/

just get those 2 and half gallon jugs and freeze them your temps will be under control.....power cost are minimal

The air for the lights is being pulled from the veg room runs through the lights and then is exhausted outside so it is on a closed loop. the other fan is to filter the flower room and create air exchange between the two rooms. The idea was to try to balance the temps between the two rooms. Thank you guys for the help thus far.

Your cooling your lights with the portable ac's cold air? Is this correct? Do you have an intake from outside at all?

Lights need to be in a closed loop as stated above. Air from outside > fan > hoods > outside.

yes I am cooling the lights with an ac. I don,t have a way to pull air from out side other than the garage and the temp here in the summer kicks it around 105 so even if I could pull from outside it would be real hot air. I am going to try to explain this better. There are two ventilation fans at work here and two rooms. So the 800cfm pulls air through the 1000 watt veg light which pulls fresh air from the rest of the house. This air is then pulled through the other three lights and pumped out of the house completely. Now the 400cfm is in the flower room and is connected to a carbon air filter. The 400 pulls air from the veg area cycles it through the air filter and spits it back out in the veg area. This does two things, first it ensure any air leaving the flower room is filtered and it balances the temps between the two rooms, while allowing fresh air to enter the flower room. I think I may have fixed the problem today by keeping the 10000 btu in the veg room and piping the cold air from it straight into the flower room. So far the ac is staying on and all is well. Please leave some more comments as I have thought I have had this problem licked a few time and I was all wrong lol. I also think that as soon as i can afford it I will grab a booster fan for the light ventilation.

Thanks again

Portable ac's hella suck if you can put a window unit in with a fan running on a carbon circulating the air inside room

Thank you all for your help, I have it under control now. I was also able to cut out one of the AC units all together so yay for saving money. I basically built a two pipe AC unit out of the big unit. This allowed me to keep it in the veg area and cool both rooms with it. I ditch the AC on the light system. I will soon be buying an in line booster fan to help the light system out a bit which should really get everything perfect. But for now I am at 79 in my flower room and 76 in the veg room.

Again thank you all for your help
