heat problems with 600w cabinet

Hi guys,

My first attempt at setting up a grow room and everything was perfect apart from... the heat :wall:

I've lurked around this forum for ages trying to read as much as I can, but I still made the silly mistake of buying a higher wattage bulb with the smallest fan... a systemair 100mm.

I have a 1.25m height x 1m width x 0.70m depth cabinet
600w light with a 100mm systemair fan with acoustic ducting and lined with mylar.

At the moment when I close the doors the temp in there gets to 44 celsius even with a desk fan blowing on max inside.

Would you guys suggest perhaps getting a 400w light or much larger inline fan?

Would the fact that my cabinet is empty at the moment raise/lower the temp compared to if I filled it with plants and such?

Would removing the mylar help with the heat?

Prob I have is with replacing the light to 400w i'd have to get a new ballast and bulb and there is still no guarantee that my current inline fan can handle 400w's heat right?

Any help appreciated...

I'd go with 400w and try your 4" fan but think youll need a 5" or 6" extraction fan, If you want to stay with 600 i think youll need an air-cooled hood and a pretty powerful 6" extraction fan

You can keep the 600w bulb, just get some more ventilation going.
You should have an exhaust fan high up by the bulb to pull out heat, and fresh air intake down low, this also creates cooling by convection (circular motion).
All I use in my veg cab are 4 cpu fans, 2 intake 2 exhaust.
Once you put your plants in there tbe temps will rise as they perspire and humidity rises.

yes you can keep your set up. suk that heat out with exhuast fan. i got 4 hoods hooked up to a 6 inch exhuast fan pumping that heat out. with circular fans you be fine.
