Heat issues

I just got done with my room, its a 2x3x8 ( 48 cf ). I have a 200 cfm 4 inch exhaust running out of my ceiling and a 400w mh/hps with a bat wing hood. I checked my tempature and it was a scorching 102 degrees after 2 hours. I was wondering if I got a air cooled hood and slapped it on would it drop the temps into the perfect range? My last room was perfect with my 600w but that was during winter and I didn't need an air cooled hood. Pretty much what it scales down to is, how would my tempatures look in the middle of the day with an ambient temp of 65 outside of the room if I got an air cooled hood?

I'd say with an air-cooled hood and good exhaust you should be able to bring the temp to within 5 degrees of the ambient temp in the room. My room temp right now is 75 degrees and my tent temp is 78.4 in one tent and 79 in the other. I also use metal halide bulbs and I'm sure that makes a difference. Hope that helps a bit.

Yeah I know the MH bulbs get hotter then the HPS, therefor I'd rather use Hps the entire grow, and plus it gives it a little bit more lumans =). So you think it would drop it a fair bit? Dude at my hydroponic shop said around a 10 degree drop, but that would still be 90 =/.

He said the air-cooled hood would drop it 10 degrees?
Assuming you hook up a good exhaust it should expel around 60% of the heat from the bulb. It will make a pretty big difference. Can't say in degrees because everybody's situation is a little different but I think you'd be wise to go with the air-cooled hood in a tent anyways.

Well, I got a 600w hps thats 110 in there, think that would be better? If I can drop the temps enough id rather use it
