Plant 2 Top & Side

2013-02-15 19.23.37.jpg

Today was moving day! The soil was pretty dry so the newest roots are new resting in fresh nutrient rich soil.

I watered them through and through with a generic plant food I picked up from Walmart. I watered them down half of what was recommended on the box. Less is sometimes more, no use shoving food down their throat and choking them. That should replenish the older soil around the core roots.

I started LST and felt like a horrible human for doing it. It just feels so unnatural and crippling.

I did a practice LST in the old pots the day before just so see how they respond. That's why you see the bend in the stems.

I will upload pics of the LST tomorrow. I hope I'm doing it right.

All-in-All the leaves look good and healthy. I'll let these guys rest and adjust to their environment for the next few days before touching them.

Question: On plant 2 you'll notice the little sprout leaves are yellowing. I'm guessing because they're not getting light. Should I just let them die off, or should I remove them now?

Plant 1 - I think she looks okay.

Plant 2 - Not bad for 3 days behind!

18 hours later they've perked up nicely. Showing some great growth from the lower nodes. Better than I expected.

There was a bit of a kink in the stem of plant 2 which I was worried about, but it doesn't seem to be affecting it. I guess people do worse when they supercrop so meh...

Top on plant two has grown about a quarter of an inch between nodes in the past 24 hours. This pleases me...

You can see the bend from the LST. I took the anchor string off because it was almost digging into the stem. I need to get some pipe cleaners or something.
I'll tie them down some more tonight.

2013-02-18 14.44.18.jpg
Installed a PC fan. It's whisper quiet and moves twice as much air as the old duct-booster that I had.

There's new growth showing lower down the stem. The upper growth has slowed which is making me anxious. I feel like I began LST too soon... new rule, wait 30 days.
All part of the learning process.

don't worry about the slowing growth...unless it keeps on happening. It's probably just stretching her roots since the transplant. saw your q about the lower leaves, don't worry about them, they'll fall off eventually, they're just the feeder leaves for the first while then it's normal for them to die once it doesn't need them anymore

I think they're looking good. I should have continued to LST properly but I stopped.

I topped them around 30 days.

I left them for longer than I should have and they grew up into the light. Bummer.

Start flowering? I think maybe in 5 days. They've got room for double their height right now.

Or should I tie those branches down and give em a few more weeks?

what a difference 17 days makes eh! If I were you I'd start them flowering, but I'm a really impatient person and just love the flowering portion of the grow. My Veg chamber gets an inspection daily....but my flower chamber get a chair pulled up and I can just sit there for hours hahaha. I love watching the buds grow.

LST - BEFORE & AFTER 18 HOURS

Day 48

Before the LST!

Tied each branch down with wire. I feel like I'm hurting them, and I did nearly snap a main branch on plant 1.
I took a pen and cut a 2 cm piece. Then taped it around the broken stem like a stent. Seems to work, it's holding it up!

They look so good once they perk up!

They're now on flowering time. 12/12

I don't think I will LST any more unless necessary. I've trimmed some fan leaves to make sure lights getting where it needs to go.

Plenty of tops. Considering 2 weeks of veg in flowering and final flowering... What do you think these could potentially yield?
When I started out I was expecting to grow a 1/4 oz lol - hope these are females!

I haven't added anymore nutes since transplanting them. They were stunted from the transplant and other damage, but they've really started to grow out.
I'm hesitant to add any nutes because there are no problems. I don't have a PH reader and probably won't get one unless necessary.

Here's a nice pic. Love that shade of green.

Sure does! Flowering started! I'm impatient as well...
I'll probably find myself sitting in front of them just watching for 30 min a night... Definitely daily inspection!

oh ya just wait for a few weeks till the hairs show, I know I can barely wait to get home from work to inspect! Looking at them it's really hard to judge yield, but assuming they're both female, then you should have well over a 1/4, I'd geuss closer to 1/2 per plant. As far as nutes goes, as long as they stay nice and healthy you should be good I think....but they will start to eat a lot more soon, so keep an eye out for any deficiencies.

Nice growth.

Day 53

2013-03-15 19.04.17.jpg
Growth continues.

I let them dry up for a week, and the other day I saturated the soil with nutes as much as it would allow. My logic is that they will be thirsty and gobble up those nutes as they rush to take in water. They seem to have worked. The leaves are a nice healthy light - to - dark green. They smile nice and veggie.

My concern now is that they may grow too close to the lights. Those bulbs are pretty warm and there's minimal air flow in there... (pc fan)

I'm actually surprised at how easy this all was... Considering I know nothing about growing plants, and I'm doing it stealth in a house with people that don't know. Keep in mind I have zero filtration, and have lasted this long. I did try an air freshener, but it caused more alarm than the faint veggie smell. Go figure.

Just a few weeks... Just a few weeks... Just a few weeks... I'm hoping for 1 oz more or less. I would be on top of the world with a successful harvest!

Thanks bro! I'm quite proud of their health and appearance. It feels like I've played the game right, especially since I haven't gone as far as to measure temp, PH, specific lighting, ect. It's all been by feel and intuition... of course, I'd be nowhere without you guys and this web site. Keep checkin' back! The buds are on their way ;)

looking good Hazey! Any signs of sex yet?
2013-03-18 23.06.38.jpg 2013-03-18 23.08.27.jpg 2013-03-18 23.10.35.jpg
Plant 1 (larger one) is showing bulb-like structures at the nodes. Man, if those are pollen sacs, I am crushed. I'm 80% sure the large plant is male... confirmation anyone?

Plant 2 is showing regular growth... No sign of sacs which I hope is a sign that the pistils are just coming in very fine at the moment.

All my hopes are on this one.

May be too early, but that's the only thing I can see that looks like a pistil. At least I don't see pollen sacs growing.

In other news... Doctor signed off on my paper work for my MMAP License. I also got the go ahead from family doc and specialist. The signing doctor has a designated grower in mind for me. I need an Indica and Sativa strain (15g each per month) for 3g per day. I'm waiting to hear back if this grower is willing to accept me. If you know anyone in Saskatchewan that can take on a patient for a 1 year term and provide both Indica and Sativa strains --- I would appreciate a heads up. Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't know any caregivers, and Pat at Vintage won't be in the game for a while I'd think! Good you got your card anyways. BUT if your only allowed 15g of each/month that's only a gram a day!

Hoping your baby turns out to be a girl this time! I can't tell from the pics but it should show sex very soon I'd think.

Woops... I was never good at math... It's 3g/day so.... 45g each per month.
Anyway, sounds like they'll be able to find someone for me.
