having trouble with germanation/ sprouting

alright i cant seem to figure out whats wrong, i tried it now 3 times with like 12 seeds, i got one seed to germanate but then it wouldnt sprout through the soil after 48 hours of light using a 60 watt cfl. the way the one seed germanated by letting it sit in water. the paper towel method didnt work with any of like the 8 i tried, i used warm dark place. and let sit for almost 48 hours. give me some help.

You gave up after almost 48 hours? Thats not good. You need to be more patient.

I second that, you need to wait about 48 hours until it cracks them put it under the light. Remember when your putting it under the light that the light isnt too close initially because of the heat. Also you dont want to dry out the little guy!

If you are not getting anything after 48 hours then you might just have some tough seeds on your hands. Here is what I do:

Pinch the seeds from the sides firmly until you hear a crack. This will help big time If you dont get anything within 48-72 hours after that, then the seeds are probably no good.

For the sprouting, you'll need to provide them a lil humidity dome or cover them with saran wrap and poke a few holes in it. Usually within 3 days you'll get it to break the surface. Then remove the cover and mist them once or twice a day for a few days.

yeah ill admit im very inpatient, i think im going to wait till it gets warmer so i can move this into my shed, by then ill have a new grow/stealth box, till then ill read around the forums and learn more.
