Have you ever had this happen?

So I went down to my grow room this morning and found this:
3 seedlings, I never planted seeds in this pot. I mixed up new soil and transplanted the large plant into it almost 2 weeks ago. Low and behold I have 4 plants in this pot.
has anyone ever had this happen? Am I just that sloppy that I could have spilled seeds into the media? Well I don’t have any extra seeds.
thank you mysterious universe for weekends and 3 extra weed babies! Happy weekend all.

Me too! I reused some soil to transplant a seedling up to a bigger pot. A few days later the healthiest seedling popped up with no help from me. I carefully scooped it out and put it right into a six gallon pot. This three week old plant is the healthiest looking plant I never grew. So, what could it be? I had three Auto cultivars in the room. Banana Kush, Blue Cheese and Bruce Banner. Somebody hermed out. I found a few fully developed seeds in the blue cheese. Some of the other two had tiny white half seeds. No plant had an abundance of seeds. I only found six good seeds in three plants while trimming. I was thinking of calling it Banana Banner fo fanner. I settled on the "Riddler"

Is it possible they popped up from bits of root left in the media? I know in the tree world, new trees (suckers) will sprout out from the root zone of the tree. Never heard of that happening with cannabis tho.

Maybe, there may be some residual roots, I am super careful to remove all of that. We shall see. If they are auto’s then that is the culprit. I’ll dig them out once they grow more and transplant them. Maybe this will turn into grow journal for these mystery gifts? Opinions?

I'll keep you updated on how the Riddler turns out. I topped it because it was growing tall too fast compared to the rest of the plants. Even though I've only grown autos that doesn't mean it can't turn out to be a photoperiod. I'll know if it starts flowering with the rest of the plants on 18/6 light. That should happen very soon. I have a few regular auto seeds from Gnome Automatics. Coal Miners Daughter. I love the CMD I grew that luckily was female. So, I have CMD regular auto seeds, six mystery seeds and a growing mystery plant. If the growing plant turns out to be male or a photo that I can take cuttings from, would that be a good place to start? Or not? I know nothing about breeding or even what my goal would be. You have to have a goal. I know that much. The Banner and Blue Cheese had giant buds and the Coal Miners Daughter was sticky as hell. Two out of four Banners had poor structure and the other two were short but dense and high yielding for their height. I need those short and stocky qualities when growing in an 80-inch-tall tent. Frosty sticky flowers too. So I guess that would be my goal.(s)

This should be happening to me in about a month. I'm doing a seed run. I usually harvest when I see a couple seeds on the table or a couple germinated seedlings. I just move them to a pint pot and move them to the veg room. Then I chop the seed table.

Hope you find the source of the gift.

Hmm. Lights are out for the night. I think I see something in the picture that looks like signs of flowering. Are those tiny white hairs lady parts? I have to check in the morning.

I grow outside and have seen this happen frequently. I don't grow auto or anything with a cutesy name. After last years harvest I found 9 seedlings in the yard that must have shook loose when I harvested. I usually don't get to grow them as my dog loves to eat them. A whole yard full of various weeds growing but she only picks out those and chews them to the dirt. I found some steel grates so this years crop will be fenced off from my canna chewing dog.

Enjoy your sprouts.
