I cant say anything about the 400 watt but i have a sun system 150 watt and it has been working very well for me in my small tent.

Hm how come you'res says switchable ballast on it and mine don't. I'm using mine for hps, thats what it says its for anyways. One thing I'm worrying about is the heat that comes off from it. Is it hot?
I have it and I like it. It's heavy at 40lbs but it's nice and quite and I have the air cool attachment for my hood so I can get it with-in inches of my plants.:clap:

I bought it from here--> http://www.specialty-lights.com/900504.html

It came with both bulbs and free shipping so you save a few bucks.

If the one you are looking at isn't a switchable then it's not worth $200+.

If you just want a simple 400w hps then htg supply would be your best best.--> http://www.htgsupply.com/

And yes, 400w hps are pretty hot if they're not air coolded.

Oh well 420God I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the sun system. 400 watts is good enough. God I just wish I lived in Cali. Shit freaks me out. I'm just sick of smoking nasty swagg. I really feel like it could be bad for me smoking all this swagg like this. U never know how much neglect those plants went through to end up like dat. All bricked, eww!!!.

$200 shouldnt be alot of money for a 400 if it's switchable between MH and HPS right? I have to buy the bulb seperate though. I guess its good.

I'm still not king on this whole growing idea though, even if its for one plant that I'm not gonna veg, atleast not for more then a week. I'm still deciding if I'm gonna grow one or not. See the reason I'm gonna buy it is because I wanna get one while I have the money, so I can take it with me to cali when ever I get up there. Where then I plan on getting a medical card. Right now I don't have one, and I'm definitely not in cali. I don't even think I'm gonna use it till I get in cali. lol

Hey Turtle,

I am using the Sun System 2 Air Cooled 400w HPS with a Hortilux bulb for the first time on my current grow and I couldnt be more pleased. I am growing in a fairly small space 4x2x54 and was also worried about the heat issue. I previously grew with 42w Cfls, a dozen of them, and my tent was stupid hot. Now that I have an external ballast and the air cooled hood, my tent is MUCH cooler than it was with the cfls, and my bud production/size/mass are much better than before. I would buy it. Just my humble opinion. Thanks again for stopping by my grow!

Using 2 Sun System 2 600w HPS bulb & 1 HPS to MH conversion bulb side by side in a 4x4x6.5 grow space. It lights up like a tanning bed inside the tent and is optimum for my space considering 800w is the designated bulb size for what I'm using. The 6" Vortex fan cooling those bad boys ensures my plants can lean against the glass of my hoods and not get burned but I wouldn't recommend it. Get a digital ballast and keep it outside of the grow space and if you want "dank buds" then you have to remember you need 50 watts per sq ft of your grow area.

I've used the higher end galaxy 400w and I think they are great quality, but you are paying too much For that price for a all in one ballast in fixture model you could easily get a real ballast with a air cooled reflector for a bit more and have a far better setup.
