Has anyone ever tried a 24/6 light schedule?

Saw a debate between 2 guys earlier about which lighting schedule was more effective for autos. One guy claimed maxing out the light at 24/0 was more beneficial bc it gave them the most energy possible in the short time autos take to flower. The other guy claimed 12/12 or 18/6 was better because of the benefits of a dark period and how the autos were designed/bred to do so. So it made me think, what about a 24/6 or 24/8 schedule to get max light AND a dark period? Has anyone tried this? Anyone have an explanation on why this may or may not work?

For autos there really isn't a big difference between 20/4 and 24/0. I wouldn't try 18/6 with autos as you're really just cutting in to their producing period during the lights on. Trying to off it and go 24/6 is probably a waste of time and money. Mephisto (one of the biggest and best names in autos) uses 24/0 for most of their growing. The only exception being when they breed a new one in and have to make a photoperiod plant produce pollen.

Plants use their energy and grow during the dark period so I would think a dark period would be necessary for optimal growth. 24/6 is an interesting concept but how much energy can the plant store prior to the dark period would be my question. I would hazard a guess that an 18/6 or 19/5 would be optimal for autos but it would really depend what lights you are running

Once I get my skills honed in, I'm gonna do some experiments with the lighting and see what I come up with. I was just wondering if someone may have already tried it.
