cheaper to just buy man...go to lowes, find the dual t5 fixture, they cost about $10.50 with tax...i don't think u could possibly build one outta parts for less than that.

get 2,3,4...of them, get 2 pieces of wood, screw it into the top of the fixtures, so the fixtures are all connected now, then you will also have hooks in the bag the lights came in, use those to screw into the wood and use for your chain, rope, wire whatever you are using to hang the lights.

so basically if you buy 3 fixtures($30~), and 6 t5 bulbs ($12-15) you have a very nice veg setup for around $45

Thanks man, still can't find it, but looking at comparable products, I'm gonna say there's no way it's $10, right? I'm looking for 4' lengths............

Anyhow, could someone explain to me in simple terms what makes a T5 better then a T8, save for increased efficiency? I mean, save for being thinner and using slightly less electricity, does it emit more lumens or anything like that? Because I'm thinking of grabbing three of these and mounting them on a piece of plywood:

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=184349-13537-184349&detail=desc&lpage=none

A little more then $100 (need bulbs as well) and I've got the lighting down for the bottom level of my veg tent, no?

why do you think there is no way its $10?? yes these fixtures hold TWO 4' Floro's... i have bought several of them from lowes...i just gave you the item number off the box, walk into lowes, have an employee look it up and they will find it in the store, they sell the same shit at all their stores..

just looked at your link...the one im talking about is much less wide than that, basically it is hardly wider than 2 bulbs, you can mount these things way close together, and fit a shit load of light in a very small space (closet)
i'll post some pics tomorrow so you can see exactly what i mean

Thanks; just got back from Lowes, and the only T5 fixture they had was a 2' that was $55 (two lights).

I ended up just going with four of the 4', two light T8 fixtures - that and 12 T8 bulbs ran me about $90.

I wouldn't have thought the light difference would be that noticeable, but it certainly was between the T5 and T8, but for what I need (just mamas and clones), the 8 T8 bulbs should work fine.

I'm guessing what you think is a T5 fixture is actually a T8 - take a look and lemme know.
