Harvest Time Determines Type Of High?

i just harvested 2 plants, both at the same time and both were mostly cloudy. one bud gives me a brainy high and the other gives me a stoned stupid high.....fuck all this trichome bullshit man, its more genetically dependant than what colot the trichomes are. yeah im sure that the chemical changes in the triches do add to it but if you have a couchlock strain it dosent matter what color the trichomes are.

my 2¢
THANK YOU! God damn people are here are fucking idiots. Why is it so hard to figure out? You can't fucking grow a plant for a longer period of time and completely change the high. God whoever thought that up needs to get hit by a bus.

God dammit. NO YOU FUCKING MORON. They are different species. JESUS. Where do you come up with this shit?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_strains#Major_variety_types
you really need to relax. this copy and pasting, which is a form of citation is great. they for sure ARE two different species.

"The Cannabis genus is typically considered to have two species, Cannabis indica and Cannabis sativa.[SUP][1][/SUP] A third species known as Cannabis ruderalis differs from the other two species in a few key ways. C. ruderalis is very short, produces only trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and flowers independently of the photoperiod and according to age.[SUP][2][/SUP]"

BUT

"The subjective effects of sativas and indicas are said to differ, but the ratio of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to cannabidiol (CBD) in most named drug varieties of both types is very similar (averaging about 200:1)"

i really should..but i edited my post.

i think they are the same species, but different subspecies? anyone know for sure?
Do you even know what a sub-species is? I'm 100% sure you don't.

In biological classification, subspecies (abbreviated "subsp." or "ssp."; plural: "subspecies") is either a taxonomic rank subordinate to species, or a taxonomic unit in that rank. A subspecies cannot be recognized in isolation: a species will either be recognized as having no subspecies at all or two or more (including any that are extinct), never just one.
So tell me dumbass, how would Indica and Sativa fit under that definition.

Answer: They don't, you are an idiot.

Even under your insane logic what is the species of cannabis? Clearly it wouldn't be cannabis as that is the Genus. So what is the species? Oh right you don't know, you just like to talk out of your fucking ass.

You're not a critical thinker. You're an idiot. How about you stop posting in other peoples threads, because every time you do it takes me or someone else at least 2 pages to explain to you what you said was wrong.

Actually generally if things are two different species but closely related like horses and donkeys, they can mate and produce offspring but the offspring are sterile. Weed of all types breeds freely and the progeny are fertile.

All of this is splitting hairs though, the "indica" legal defense didn't work and railing on Bmeat isn't going to change anything either. Consider them as being on a continuum and it's easier to swallow IMO.

still the point of this thread is that 80% (guess percentage) of the "type of high" is determined by the genetics. rarely you find anything 100% sativa/indica anyways so its really a lost cause in battleing ove the scientific classification.

to the original poster. the bud is gonna give you a certain high, the trichome development is not crucial and in no way determines that high. I personally like the brainy, uplifting wanna get shit done high rather than the couch lock but when im having trouble sleeping that couchlock super stoned stuff works wonders.

read up on the chemical makeup of different strains. i dont know all the terminology but THC is not the only halucinegenic chemical found in marijuanna. there is a few different contributers in the GENETICS OF THE INDIVIDUAL STRAIN that make up the actual high. haverst when ripe and dont let your nice buds go over ripe because your looking for a certain type of high.

blue cheese from big buddah seeds give a couchlock even when harvested eary ( this is my determination from experience)

Fruity Chronic Juice give the uplifting high, i just haversted both and have been experimenting with them. i smoke the blue cheese before bed and the FCJ all day long. both were mostyl cloudy and some clear trichomes when harvested. i could have let the BC go a bit longer for a bigger couchlock but it wasnt necessary.

stop looking too far into this shit and read some smoke reports, find out a good strain that sounds like what you are looking for and grow it out, harvest it when its done (almost all pistols are receeeded and brown and it has stopped putting on bud weight) microscoping trichomes is cool, they look awesome under a scope and when your high they are 100x cooler but they in no way shape or form can change the chemical makeup of the bud that is pre determined genetically.

I love Mr2Shim's posts, especially when he calls somebody out. Endlessly entertaining!! I come on here everyday to read your posts.

Mr2shim - you are a little on the harsh side, but your frustrations are warranted as there is a ton of misinformation and bad advice on this board generally. That said, the real idiots aren't the ones giving the advice - they are the ones that listen to the advice and follow it!! I'm still pretty new at growing and it's definitely a learning process. I've asked tons of questions on this board - some answers and advice were great, but many other responses were totally out to lunch. Bottom line is if you are a new grower or otherwise looking for advice and you end up taking the advice wholesale of some pimply faced 14 year old kid growing bagseed in his parents basement under incandescent lights, you deserve dead plants. How do you know if the person giving advice is a pimply faced 14 year old kid?? EXACTLY MY POINT. You have no idea who is giving the advice whether they have 100+ grows under theri belt or have never even gotten a seed to germinate. Therefore, if you want to be smart....you will be judicious in the advice you accept and follow and take everything that anyone says on this board with a grain or salt...or two or three. You will verify the information against reading materials that have authoritative value. You will also use common sense....in my humble opinion common sense is the single most important growing skill. I believe what Mr2shim is trying to say is - if we all used a little more common sense, the quality of advice on information on this board would improve tenfold. I full concur. Keep 'em coming Mr2shim!!

btw - critical thinking is thinking in the abstract. things like botany, science, math are all empirical in nature and require logical thinking which is the polar opposite to thinking in the abstract. The claim that one deduced that indica and sativa are sub-species as result of being a critical thinker is also erroneous.

my friend, even science isnt concerete. the most simple example. science said the earth was flat in the past. then that science changed.

NOTHING is 100%

it does say that cannabis sativa and indica are different species, but it also says that the chemical makeup of their resins are almost identical.

Exactly, I have little patience of idiots. Maybe I should work on that... HA, but honestly great post +rep

You are right and wrong at the same time. Dogs are ALL the same species AND sub-species, but I don't think you'll go around calling your Golden Retriever a Maltese. There are very distinct differences in them besides the species of the plant, after all that isn't the final determining factor of what something is or will look like. If that was the case I'd have your ugly face, thankfully I don't.

You are right, science isn't concrete. It's a continually evolving understanding of earth and the universe around us. One thing that may be true today will likely be disproved in 200 years. With that being said, there are things in science that are concrete.

and i dont denote anyone from thinking but bmeat always has a "different approach" than what has been proven time and time again. he simply thinks that everyone in this world is wrong...while thats not a terrible attitude to have it is definatly undesirable by the people who have spent countless hours reaserching things to come up with one conclusion.

my suggestion is to question things that are still questionable and leave things that have been prven time in and time out by actual scientists alone. theres nothing wrong with having a creative mind man but this is not the place for it. get into some advanced phsics in college and test your abtract therois there where they will be praised even if they are worng.

bottom line is...some things are already set in stone, if you want to be abstract go to a topic that isnt set in stone and you may just be the next nobel prize recipient. but preaching to a bunch of seasoned growers about shit that obviously is not true is like masterbating with a homeade cheesegrater glove.

Well said, honestly anyone with common sense wouldn't take bmeats advice and if you do you deserve what you get. Use your common sense and intuition when on this board. My experiences from lurking around,posting myself, reading countless books, and being around actual grows, I somewhat can tell who knows their shit and who is full of shit on this board.

And bmeat I do wish you luck on your grows, I just think you should take some time and read a few grow books and gather as much information as you can. Once you have a few successful grows under your belt then maybe you will somewhat be qualified to give advice. Be humble about it if you do succeed, don't try and come across as if you know everything, give it your all once you learn more and prove everyone wrong.

read this in another thread:
trichomes are like bananas

clear = green
cloudy = yellow
amber = black

I don't get all this "couchlock vs uplifting" high stuff.
Many sativas get me high for a bit, then make me want to sleep.
Super Lemon Haze gets me super baked, then I need a nap 3 hours later.

I can smoke Blueberry at 10 am and forget if I have smoked that day at 3:00.
Some sativas make me racy high as do some indicas. Some sativas, like C99 feel to me like indicas. Headband is zoomy for me, followed quickly by a nap.

It all depends on the person and the variety.

I have some neville's abusive wreck that gets me super baked and not tired. I can not explain it.

I can't figure it out except sativas tend more to make me tired.

When I was smoking shwag, that stuff always made me tired.
I'm so spoiled, able to turn down weed, "Oh is that sour diesel? that will make me tired, no thanks."

im a critical thinker. dont damn me for that.
What kind of a critical thinker believes that hermaphrodites were created by humans?
