Harvest Question W/PICS

Well this is my first time grow, got the seed from a co-worker who's been growing at home for god knows how long. Strain is supposed to be 1/2 indica 1/2 sativa, and I've had the stuff before and it turned out pretty excellent.

So here's my situation...i'm growing this plant in a greenhouse, and so far it's been growing pretty well. Unfortunately some unnamed bug ate off the top kola early on, so it's just got a fat stump up the center. Good thing is, it fanned out pretty well and has a good number of buds on it.

I started this not knowing anything about growing, so I didn't expect some large first yield...I'm happy with just getting a free eighth and some first time experience. The buds are pretty small popcorn buds, but there's tons on it.

Anyway, I don't have access to a super magnifying lens, so I was wondering if my small first-time plant is looking ready to harvest? I'm sorry if this question gets asked a lot around here, I would just like the opinion of some people who actually know what they're doing haha.

From what I remember, it was planted around September or October of last year, and it's been sitting in the greenhouse slowly growing. There's tons of crystals on it, lots of pistil hairs, and all I've been feeding it is water with a tiny amount of molasses. Thanks for all you guys do, learned a lot just cruising these forums.

hmm well without pics its a bit hard to tell ya when ur looking to harvest, Try going to a dollar store and picking up a magnifying glass and have a look at the trichomes, if they are cloudy then ur plant is most likely ready to harvest, but without any pics its a litte hard to tell ya

yeah sorry had a bit of trouble uploading the pictures, they ended up a bit large but it lets you see the detail a little better. So cloudy looking trichromes is what i'm looking for?

EDIT: yeah i put a link up for the gallery view so it doesn't lag up this page when you try to load it.

Lol thats a very nice looking plant as far as whats left of it, bummer thats that main khola's gone because it probobly would have been very thick and juicy... I would wait a while on harvesting because its buds arent very noticable...wait untill u start seeing that about 75% of the hairs on the buds are turing brown, then keep a close eye on those trichomes, but from what it looks like u might be waiting a while before ur harvesting

Alright, cool man thanks! Yeah the buds are pretty small sized, I've just finished water curing 3 small sized buds that were near the top of the plant, they had almost all red hairs and were really really sticky. The ones in the pic might look a little white haired because of the camera flash, they're about 25% red right now.

Finished the 7 day water cycle on monday, let them dry for 1.5 days then smoked it. I was really surprised how smooth it was, and I was stoked that it had almost no noticeable smell.

Also one last quick question...what should I do with the trimmings? I've got a small amount right now from those 3 test buds that I water cured, but when the whole plant is ready to chop, can I put that leaf waste to use somehow?

Welcome to the world of hash. Thats another thing im liking about ur plant, the large amount of leaves... u can throw away those large fan leaves but keep all the trim that u get from the bud, u can get a decent amount of hash or keif from it with very little effort. just keep all the leaves that have any thc on them and dry them out, after that u can use many different methods to extract the thc and end up with some nice hash/keif
