Harvest question: drying

I don't understand why people think they should hang up their plants. Once a branch/bud is separated from the mother plant there is no movement within that part. I read that some think the resin travels to the branch ends when hung up. Wrong.

I suggest you harvest and trim at the same time. Trimming off the small sugar leaves is the most time-consuming part of harvesting. These sugar leaves start to curl up the minute they are separated from the plant. That makes them much more difficult to remove. Takes me on average 45 minutes to harvest a plant if done immediately. 2 - 2 1/2 hours if the plant has been hung up.

Remember, there is no reason to hang 'em and it only makes trimming harder.

Good luck, BigSteve.
I hang them for slow even drying and to not damage any resin glands.

Then trim bud leaves dry as they pretty much pop right off with the tip of scissors. Again. Less trichome damage and loss. And easier to collect them for hash.

The only activity is the chlorophyll being eaten by bacteria inside the buds. This happens until they are completely dry though out. That is the smell you get when you open the jar to burp. When the moisture is gone. The curing is over.

But it happens while you are drying too. However you do it.

There are old farmers out here who say the thc flows from the roots to the buds but they don't read so good. Lol.

I wet trim, hang dry, and then dry trim. Jar.

I also leave most of the sugar leaves

i used to hate turning buds every day.
I use 16 x 25 x 1 inch furnace filters. About $1/per at hardware store. I put a single layer of paper towel on the filter before placing the bud on the paper towel. The filter does a pretty good job of letting the bud dry uniformly. I still flip them one time after 2-3 days, but, that is because the bottoms of buds dry slower.

Good luck, BigSteve.
