i'm sure this has been asked - i tried the search engine, but it was not working right..

how do you know the right time to harvest?
i've heard -
1. most hairs will turn red.
2. trychomes will turn milky white.
3. 50% of trychomes should be amber
i just saw the amber trychomes on youtube - this is my first year using a magnifier.. i was watching for them to turn white - now i should wait for them to turn amber?
i also saw on the tutorial where the leaves also turned a bit amber..

what is the indicator that you use??

thanks! bongsmilie

i think the hairs should be the best indicator... what type of plant is it...indicas dont take that long so dont be scared to harvest if your mind tells you too

the most accurate is trichomes. pending on the high u want is when u should harvest. if u want the couchlock high wait til the hairs turn atleast 50% amber. if u want more energetic high then wait til u see the first sign of amber.
don't ever go by what the leaves do, and never harvesst just because u think they are ready, know they are ready. otherwise u will miss out on a lot of THC

the strain is Aff Goo - i'm in northern california
they've been flowering for about 7 weeks..
i kind of told my growing partner that i wouldnt post pics online.. but i'll talk to them and maybe i can put something up tomorrow..
thanks for all the quick replies! :-)
tigger - your first JPG came out very small, but i would like to see it..
lolipopcrop - that's a very interesting point - i hadn't heard that before..

so... how long does it take from milky white trychomes to 100% amber? how small is the window?

people dont get busted from posting pics on here ever do they?

i'm off to bed - be back in 10 hrs..

hey ford sorry bout the 1st JPG here is another for u that might help you some.....usually the window is about 10days

kiss-asslol... < only kidding

The trichomes are the key indicator. I went with 50/50 clear/milky with some amber. I wasn't looking for a disabling couch lock kind of high. I got a really nice up, energetic, almost psychedelic high.
Read this, it should clear things up:

good idea ...... its supprising how many crystals there is in shake.

I kept all the leaves and leaf parts that had trichomes on them along with the immediately closest leaves. Shit will get you as high as the bud, you just gotta smoke more. I roll a joint and get thru about 1/2 of it and I'm good! Gonna try making hash next.

so - how long do you guys think they have? (pics on page 1)

hey ford looking good---just a suggestion/comment on my behalf if you dont mind......when you think that your plant is ready for the chop, leave her for that extra week -coz in my humble opinion() your ladies look like they have another 2 weeks or so to go...

hope this helps any...

ok.. thanks a lot!!
that confims what my friend said about the same pics..
my growing partner is wary of letting them go too long.. but i want the fattest, best buds possible..
i just hope is doesnt rain apeshit - because we've agreed that if it looks like many days of rain comming we should just take them all in to dry.. i dunno - i have fairly little hands on experience - when does mold become an issue? 3 days of rain? 4?

i'll mension that this is a legit medical grow here in california.. my friend says "dude - they'll log your IP"... lol.. i seriously doubt it...
