Hardwater?

Installed the RO system.
Ppm went from 150 to 50.
Is that good? Or should it be zero?
Its still taking a lot of ph down solution. Is that normal?

Fiddy,
No you don't need a faster unit...just some storage bin to provide you with a couple of days reserve. You can even put a keep full float and valve. Fairly easy.

Oh and comparing this water with your old water is more complicated then comparing ppms. But yes...most likely the difference in performance of your ph down was water related. Totally possible and likely...

Low water pressure will effect how well the membrane performs as well as how much it puts out. 60 psi is ideal. If u can, test your water pressure. If your pressure is lower than 45 psi or fluxuates, u should consider adding an electric booster pump or permeate pump if electric is not an option for you. Both types of pumps will boost output and efficiency.

Mustangmike nailed it. When testing for dissolved solids, bypass your re-mineralization cartridge to get an accurate reading.

So I had put the carbon filter in another container. I fixed it tho. It’s taking too long to water tho.
I went ahead and broke down and got this RO system. I figure with the amount of plants I’ll be dealing with that I should get a good one.

I pulled the report, but not sure what I need to look for. It said the water hardness is 150

Damn small world, I live in Norman too, the water here isn't too bad with RO, but the alkalinity is a little high. Mix 50/50 RO/tap and ph comes out just about right without having to add anything. In fact I haven't really had to ph anything.

Idk why, but the water on the current RO system comes out at 11.
You live in Norman, OK?! No way that’s crazy!

Hi TF,
You were expecting 0 ppm? I've had 3 or 4 different RO systems and never had one get water to 0. 11 ppm is excellent. My last one gave me water at just under 30 ppm which is not bad. Don't worry about the 11 ppm.

So I was actually dumb and had the wrong filter in one tube. The ppm went to 0, but that ph jumped to 11. The water seems to be dropping faster with less ph down solution. So that fixed it I think, but the water flow is too slow for me. I went with a bigger one. Should be here Wednesday. I can’t wait to set it up!

My WECO RO filter puts out between 1 and 5 PPM. It takes about 8 hours to make 60 gallons at 65 PSI input pressure.

Get a storage barrel with a float valve in it so you can store filtered water. This way a slow filter is not an issue. Set it on some cement blocks, put a valve in the bottom side for getting water out. Toss a pump in there to mix the water so it's not stagnant. I actually mix nutes in the barrel when it's full, I shut off the input valve that feeds the float. Add nutes. pH. It's enough water for 2 days in one of my rooms. I have a 30 gallon barrel in each flowering room and a 55 gallon barrel in my veg room. Below is a pic of one of my 30 gallon barrels.

Do you have a thermometer in your barrel? I was acuslyly looking at a 55gal one. I got a blue lab meter to where it’ll drop either ph up/ down.
How many plants do you have in your rooms to where a 30 gallon is gone in 2 days?

What are those 2 things on the bottom of the barrel?
They look like computer fans
