Hardware Light Bulb Advice

Pop the round diffusers off those LEDs, and you'll get more light. Get a knife or razor blade and start working around the base to loosen it. Once the glue starts to loosen up, take a small screwdriver and pry it the rest of the way off. Only takes a few minutes per bulb.

This guy cut and painted the diffusers rather than pop them off, but it'll give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

In addition to the suggestions that you remove the defuser from those bulbs, you could even consider turning a couple soda cans into reflecters and taking those elongated LED bulbs and turn them sideways. Might get more light off them that way.

Easy day -- Good thought :)

Hi all -- Attaching a few photos here to get your thoughts. I've kept my LEDs on 24hrs at around 1.5ft range (Haven't added any fertilizer and I'm using tap water). I assume this the "burning" I've read about...Any recommendations?Screenshot 2020-11-26 at 14.09.23.pngScreenshot 2020-11-26 at 14.09.15.pngScreenshot 2020-11-26 at 14.09.03.png

Much better. I just hope you didn't move them too close too fast. I might raise them a foot, and if they like it, I'd drop the lights down a little more. I don't know anything about those lights.

The only thing about those lights is that it looks like most of the light is gonna go sideways instead of down and kinda be a waste. They might work better hanging in the middle of the plants, but you've already built a house for them.

On the removing the diffuser, this exposes live electricity. I know, not only have I done it but I removed the base also. Bought dollar store warm white bulbs. And I insulated the live bits afterward.

Leds close to the plant.

Damn, giving mars hydro a run for there money in performance and shocks! I like it!
I live dangerously. Seriously the terminals are insulated with silicone. I am used to live electrical though, have a couple of electrical licenses. The aluminum channel and the wiring I had, just had to buy the bulbs. A lot of work but 1500W, measured at the wall for about $250. Sure will not match the best out there but by the time I make up the difference in electrical costs the technology may advance. Only running about 900W now, I have a 300W veg tent and a separate veg area.

Nice! Yeah I’m just joking with the shocks, I think it looks pretty badass.

I got that. I have had my share of shocks though. Anyone in the business will tell you they have. It is actually good to get a few 120V ones early on to drive home the point to work safe. More than 120V, you really don't want. The most amount of power I was in front of with live terminals was about half a megawatt. Makes you really think about your actions, was real happy to have the doors closed on that one.

Week 6 Update: Not looking so fresh...The plant is just over 1ft, thin stem, and slow veg growth. Should I keep the LEDs on and see where this goes or is this show over? Curious to hear what you guys think. My grow light will arrive in hopefully a month (w/ Seedsman seeds) :)

Also, why is it still so hard to buy weed online? US, Canada, Europe...I can't find a single decent site (They all look like shady scam sites) to get a few cartridges sent to Fiji. Yes, there's weed here, but it's expensive and far from top-shelf. I've been in the military and away from the US for the past decade, but I assumed we'd cracked the code on mailing some pot. Does anyone have any online recommendations? Screenshot 2020-12-05 at 05.05.20.pngScreenshot 2020-12-05 at 05.05.03.png
