Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving (for those who celebrate). This year is the first year I have completely stood down. It's dysphoric to sit here. Usually at this time I've just hauled the turkey out of the fridge and turned the oven and coffee on. I'd sit here reveling in the last of the silence before the storm began.

What are you grateful for?

(1) RIU has been a life changing event for me. So many good friends and loads of fun. I am grateful for all of you.
(2) I'm going to the LA Auto Show and not cooking a gigantic meal and officiating over a gigantic brawl, win/win!
(3) I'm going to spend this day shit-faced, the hub prefers it that way, thank you god.

Your turn ;)

I'm thankful that my life has been better than most. I've been blessed with a few really good, lifetime friends and mentors whose advice and guidance I've wisely accepted and followed. I'm happy, content and relatively well off. I do pretty much whatever I want. I never doubt that I was able to navigate the maze of life with few dead ends only by the grace of a higher power. Happy Thanksgiving to all of my RIU friends..

Happy Thanksgiving to you Annie, and to all my American friends here on RIU. We don't celebrate it in South Africa (duh) but seeing as I have also found many, many good friends here on RIU and other forums, I might as well get into the spirit of things!

1- I feel the same about RIU. It has been a real blast. I am truly grateful for all the new friends made, and all the laughs shared. If ever there was a 'Restaurant At The End of The Universe' this place is it.

2- I am still grateful for being able to live life on the edge. I work for myself, choose how every second of my life is spent. It is a rare blessing. Very few people get to live like I do.

3- I am grateful for the company of my wife, she has to put up with me every day. And I get grumpy. I am not an easy cat to deal with. She was my first in every way. And my only. Thank gods for her.

4-My daughter. What more can I say. She just blows my mind.

5-My dog. She is the most beautiful little soul. I love her to bits. If I go away from the house for a week, a day, or 5 minutes, I get the exact same EPIC welcome when I come back.

6- I am healthy and strong. Can't beat that.

7- I am grateful to my family for giving me the land I live on, and the morals I live by. Mom, Pop, you guys are awesome. I just wish I could get you to smoke a friggin joint.

8- My gardens. I have beautiful gardens filled with DANK Sativa herb. HELL YESSSSS.

Happy Thanksgiving All,

The day will start by getting baked outa my gourd (complete) then await the kids and grandkids and my sister to get here. Most of the dinner is prepared, just finishing the turkey on the smoker, put it on about 2:00am, this morning, It will be ready about 3:30pm and we will eat at 4:00. After that, the kids will head to their in-laws and us adults will get the party started. I have a half gallon of Woodord Reserve and all the Ice Bomb, Purple Diesel and Cotton Candy I can smoke.

Been pretty much the same routine for the last couple of years, and I like it...lol

Have a smooth easy day all.

Peace

This year was hellacious. I can't believe I even survived it. But as usual someone somewhere is looking out for me. A kind of guardian angel. And it has always been this way, even when I was just a kid. So I have much to be thankful for.

So here I am, a little battered but not broken and ready to move forward with my crazy unconventional life, which I sometimes characterize as "Mr. Toads wild ride". I met some very interesting people who want to help me realize my goals and I'm grateful for that as well.

As for this madhouse, it has been a source of comfort for me. A kind of respite against a storm of change and unevenness. There are many good people here. It took me a while to realize that, because it is the internet after all and you have to take everything you find with a little skepticism. But it brings me a certain amount of happiness to be amongst people who share my interests.
And I have learned many things that I wasn't able to find in the books I have. Its a treasure trove of information here. So many people who grow this amazing plant and who are willing share their stories. I am eternally grateful for that.

And most of all I'm grateful for my family who have stood by me. I could not have made it otherwise.

I am so ready to begin again now. Bigger and better. It's going to be something very special. You'll see.

Just like the people at my brothers church. They dont leg there kids go Trick or Treating, cause they say it represents paganism. "Really" It's about kids having fun getting free candy..
I am betting they dont know the entire truth behind it.. because

Halloween is such a cluster f of traditions there are not true roots to it.. it really didn't even begin to take off till prepackaged candy was made in the mid 1940's early 50's, My Church has a BBQ and asks for no costumes.. but they get candy and play games so the idea is still togetherness etc..

Celebrating and giving thanks is a pretty large portion of Christian life..

Yeah you had an epic run of bad luck. I mean legend! Thank god that is behind you. You persevered with great grace as well through those very difficult times. I'm glad you found a little silver lining.

this thread is highly offensive. millions of people lost their lives for a day with a turkey. you should be ashamed of yourself for talking about thankfulness and being greatful when this day represents bloodshed, theft, rape, genocide.
LMAO, Who cares I didn't kill any indians and this was the day the indians came to the settlers and shared food not a day of your crybaby shit. I'm 1/8th indian I don't really care about what happened in the 1700's its not like we have a time machine. lol
