1st grow ever. 64 compliant, hell yeah. I am growing two plants. One is from a pure sativa seed I've had for like ten years. Its so cool how different it is from the indica in the other plant. It looks like the sativa is showing female preflowers. It's been veg for like a month under a 600 MH. Can anyone confirm this is what I'm looking at? I think it's a girl!

Ok, so quick question then. This could be a herm right? And other than the indica plant (not showing sign yet) pollinating it, what else during the rest of veg and flower could turn this in to a herm?

Sativa are more prone to hermi late in flowering, it's a survival mechanism, since the seed is 10 years old I would say that you will have to keep an eye on her. Nowadays, breeders are breeding this trait out as much as they can but I wouldnt worry so much, as long as you see no signs of male bananas within the first 50 days of flowering or so, it should be ok. If you see bananas late in flowering, you can save the pollen and it will create fem seeds.

Wow! Great info. Can you point me to info on how to save pollen? That sounds cool for the future. Also, does this preflower mean this vegging plant want to be flipped to 12/12?

From what I've read, pollen doesn't last a long time. Maybe a month in the freezer? Any experts out there to correct me?

Here's what I recently did. I had a herm growing in a different location from my females. I collected pollen into a paper coffee filter and then pulled the sides together and twisted them to leave a small bag with the pollen in the bottom. I then put it into a zip lock bag and placed it in my freezer. About two weeks later I was ready to use the pollen so I took the ziplock out of the freezer and left it closed for 24 hours. Moisture is bad for pollen and you don't want to get condensation on cold pollen. Anyway, after 24 hours I used the pollen and it seems to have taken. There are definitely things going on with the pollinated flower that are not happening on the other flowers.
