Although Hannah is a reputable company, I'd be cautious getting a combo meter. My buddy have gone through a couple different ones.

I have the basic Hannah model and it's nice.

I have 2 Hanna combo meters and the Ph always fluctuates from extreme readings. Say ph reads at 7.1, when I check EC and come back to Ph, the reading is now 5.8 etc. Very frustrating! enough that after 2 meters I tried a new company (Bluelab) and love my new combo meter. It is so much better in many ways.
1. EC is factory calibrated---no calibration needed, nice:)
2. EC probe floats! sounds silly but it's nice bacause H2O pump water flow won't push it around the bottom of the reservoir.
3. Ph calibration is easy and does not rely on "turning knobs" to calibrate like Hanna does. NOTE- Hanna meters are easy to mess up calibration settings when working with meter, it will happen regardless of how careful you are.
4. Ph meter comes with a screwtop on probe to keep it wet at all times(important). The rubber seal keeps the twiscap around the probe while you are able to unscrew bottom container part so that you can use the meter.
I am very pleased with Bluelab.

what specific bluelab? I have a 2o dollar hanna ph probe that does not work for shit and a 20 dollar ph meter that is right on but stuck at 300 exactly under ppm! Cant turn the nob anymore, finally broke it off. I wonder if the truncheon? or that three reader pnethat sits in the res.

My story with this HI 98129 can be very long, because the number of glitches it provides is way beyond "hand made in china" brand. If it's true that it was made in Germany I would not bet on EUR currency, becuase their end is really near then!
I will go short.
Here is the short list of shit I experienced during only last 10 days:
+) After inserting new eclectrode it didn't calibrate, then in 3 days of endless attempts it finally did after re-insertion
+) 2 point calibration was good enough for one measurement, after that it was 0.3 off
+) Then it stopped turning ON, re-inserting batteris helped
after which
+) Electrode went totaly mad: on 7.01 buffer it says 10.01 OK. It won't calibrate for EC at all. It's dead now. No way it's Europe-made. It's china-shit.
ONLY for the price of electrode and buffers (I spent already hald 500ml bottles) I could buy 4 china-made pH meters and 4 EC meters, which would last each 6 months, making it 24 months in total. This one lasted 10 days.
So If you think that "europe made" will make it up to the price you are wrong. It's the kind of equipment that you buy only if you drive Bentley, in which case I recomend buying 2.
I've been using pH meters for 10 years and it's worst shit ever. Don't buy it.

I've had no issues with my 98129. Like mentioned above, rinse it when you're done, keep it clean and stored properly, and calibrate it every so often(I do once a month, use my meter about twice a week). I've replaced my pH probe once now, and the meter is over a year old.

Same Exact Story. I guess there are some good ones out there, but we definitely got shit stock.
