Hello everyone, Im restarting this journal and restarting my first grow. The old thread became something totally different from the title.Made alot of noob mistakes. Needed a fresh start.

For this grow we are running:

The Box - thebox.jpginside.jpg(and my floors are clean thats just worn down paint over the years)

150w HPS - box temps at 75-76F with 51% humidity

Organic Soil Mix: 10% rich native soil, 20% red worm castings,20% vermiculite,50% perlite

Organic Tea : worm castings, alaska fish emulsion(during veg), superthrive vitamins and minerals, blood meal(during veg), bone meal(flowering)

Germinating seeds in party cups filled with 100% vermiculite and a watered through with a 1/3 solution of superthrive, said to aid nicely in germination and helps prevent root rot.
60dwNL.jpg
NL Auto has been germinating almost 40 hours.
60DW is around 14 hours. .
Will report once we have sprouts.

Thanks for stopping by, stay toasty my friends!

Good luck! I'll be watching to see how everything goes. Looks like we started our grows around the same time. Should be fun to share results.

Thats what im saying, im digging how alot of first time growers are starting up at the same time. I'll be keeping and eye on yours as well.
Right now my NL Auto is sprouting up:hump:

So for those who did'nt read my first journal, my first seed had a rough start, to the point the root was removed because of excessive rotting.
She was transplanted a few days ago into a party cup up fully to her leaves with vermiculite, and misted one time with a 2/3 strength solution of superthrive.
Checked on her a little while ago..this is what we have...rootlesslives.jpg

looks like growth to me..very little but..its got to mean shes making progress right?

Oh and welcome the NLauto to the world!NLauto.jpg

Update
Things are going along, no sign of germination from the new 60DW, have a feeling shes not going to sprout, which sucks i really wanted to try that strain out.
The NLauto is rockin along, and the other 60DW is still alive..no more progress noticed, it may never get any bigger than it already is.

Well unfortunately the original 60DW i planted died, and its been 48hrs since i germinated the other 60DW seed, yet it has'nt cracked the shell at all. Kind of sad since this is the strain i really wanted to try, but it looks like im out of luck for this run.
The NLauto is going strong so far, i started germing the other NL seed last night.
Thats leaves me with just 1 more bean and its the Dinafem Industrial Plant, which is not an auto, so im holding off on sprouting that one while i build a box to mother it in, then ill do a couple clones to see how they work in my box.
So it looks like as of now, this is an NLauto only grow

NLbaby.jpg
heres a pic of the first baby after being sprouted for a day, shes looking good, and i should be able to avoid the fuck ups i did on the first one this time.

What do you think caused them to die?
Well the first one i know what happened to it, i fucking butchered it to death with love and scissors....
I let it get root rot and had to remove the root, it just hanged on for about a week after but today it pretty much withered up n passed on, heartbreaking to tell u the truth.
The other bean of 60DW i had germinating, i wish i knew why it didnt crack, i planted it in the vermiculite just like i did the NL auto and that sprouted beautifully. So i guess it might of just been a bad bean, it happens. Im kinda hoping i can talk Attitude into giving me one of them as a replacement UFO(freebie) on my next order.
But im going to wait a while before i order anymore seeds, I have to see how bad i am with these first. Nothing like being a new grower thats killed their first plant in a few days, its kind of stressful while waiting to see if your lil seedling is going to make it into veg or not.
But atleast now im armed with some better knowledge on what not to do...like fuck with it to much..that just makes things worse..i've been told to just forget about them fora few days and let them grow. Going to take the advice since they have ALOT more grows under their belt than my noob ass

What about u bro, hows things going with yours?

Mine is going good so far. Still young.

I just used bag seeds for my 1st grow. I figured I would fail a few times and didn't want to waste money on dank seeds.

But I sure cant wait to order me some next go round.

Yeah Ben that was probably the smart thing to do, get a few grows under your belt so your a little more comfortable with trying expensive seeds.

Update: The NL thats above ground is looking good, grew another 1/2 inch last night and has first set of serrated leaves looking nice and perky.
the other NL has cracked, just barely but we should be seeing it above ground in the next 48hrs, keeping my fingers x'd.
Other than that, nothing new.

On a side note, im not quite happy with the airflow in my box, it just seems the intake fans are not blowing as much as i'd like them to. Thinking of redesigning the back of the box and taking out the PC fans, and adding two 6" inline booster fans, one for intake, split off into a Y to come in both sides at the bottom of the box, and a exhaust done the same way coming out above the lights. My box stays under 82F but it seems like it might be harder to control that once the plants are bigger.

UPDATE

So, being that they are auto's i decided to go ahead and get them into their final pots as it is suggested to do for autos. The one thats already sprouted went in fine, what i did was cut the bottoms of the solo cups off, then holding the cup and slightly tilting it id use scissors to cut down the side of the cup, holding it together i placed it in my soil filled pots where i had made a nice hole to place the cup in, then i just pulled the cup out, worked perfectly. well....while i was doing the cup that had the seed germinating in, as soon as I started to pack the soil in the pot around it, my stupid ass dog runs up to greet me and kicks the damn pot over, only a little bit of the dirt fell out but at this point im freakin a bit, i scoop up all the dirt, carefully looking thru the heavy vermiculite/perlite mix, but i cant find the bean anywhere! only about a half inch or so of the top soil was actually shifted when it was knocked over and im pretty sure the seeds somewhere in the top inch of soil but i don't have a clue where, so i saran wrapped it up and placed it in the box with the other.
You guys think it will still sprout up in a day or two??

The problem with your ventilation is that your intake fans are really close to your exhaust fans and you have a fan blowing your intake air up towards your light so theres no circulation by the pots. Its most likely going in and up or bouncing off of the door and dispersing. If you wanted to you could take 2 of them and move them to the same height as your pots and leave one by your light with the mounted fan pointing towards the light. That should solve your problems. What is your ambient temp? 82's not that bad but ya when it gets humid in there your temps will go up a little. Id go with the boosters though if i were you. Its nice to be able to suck out hot air right above the vent for the ballast. Hope that helps..

Let nature do its thing. She will find her way. Might take a day or two more but in the wild they would be at all different depths. The only problem i can forsee is if the seed is right next to the wall of the pot. If it were me i might gently dig with your finger around the edges to make sure.

It erked me to much, so i sat on top of the pot under a bright light and slowly looked and sifted around, and found it after about 30-40 mins of looking, it was indeed around the side of the pot, i got it back in the center now it should be good, it just started to get a tail on it when i found it.
Yeah i think im going to do those booster fans but thats going to mean basically a whole day of remodeling the back of the box, luckily it can come right off with removal of a few screws.
I've been keeping my A/C on 68 which keeps room temp around 70 and inside the box at 80 with about 50% rh. When i turn it down to 67 the inside of the box stays around 77-78, which is really just the temp where i have the meter which is right by the plant. When lights go out, i turn a/c to 68 which is what inside of the box stays at,however the RH shoot up to 58-60% at dark. Im running it on a 17/7 lighting schedule, which should save me about 28 hours of energy on light time each month, and im sure the plant won't mind that extra hour.

So heres a question im having, the temps inside the box are ok, their is circulation going on inside the box even tho im pretty sure its not being directed efficiently but there is a decent breeze inside. Is this ok or does there really need to be a strong current of air flowing?

hey hank!

so this stuff finishes in 60 days? From seed to end product! Thats amazing if so.
Hey mattman yeah thats the 60daywonder and thats what they advertise, 60 days seed to harvest, which i ended up killing with noobness, im going to have to order another bean of it so i can find out what its like, unfortunately now for this grow, which really isnt unfortunate at all, is just going to be the Northern Lights autoflower from Nirvana.

Hi guys, just looking for a quick opinion. I got the 150hps about 8" above the plant. At this point im kind of scared to move it much closer unless i absolutely need to. Does this look like stretching is taking place does this seem about normal for a 2-3 day old seedling? Im new at all this so i don't quite know the difference in a stretching seedling and one thats not.
