Come on, you honestly believe a descent newb cfl setup can run you $500? When I say small setup, I'm talking small, maybe 2 flowering plants at a time...There is experience to be gained by doing this. I wouldn't want a newb spending hundreds of dollars on top-of-the-line equipment, then end up burning his house down...

It's going to take quite a level of incompetence to burn down a house. I bought straight into a 400w hps, cooltube, extractor kit, pots, meters, nutes, medium, i considered this a pretty bare basic starter kit, cost around £400-500 and i was more than happy to spend that money, i knew it would offer me a good chance of growing with success. I personally see no justification for CFL's unless it's to do with your cabinets limitations.

Well, the basic newbs these days are people who are only able to grow in the corner of there closet, so I guess my recommendations go towards them...

better to the learning process through crap seeds and soil..why invest all that doe just to make learning curve mistakes. all the forums in the world wont help trial and error, but provide the right direction instead.

for some people its a one time deal before they realize its not for them. for me it was.."this is what i did wrong last year, so ill be doing this, this year instead" and seing a dramatic overall general better health and bigger blooms. thanks to the forums for leading the way.

sighs. . . . because if you buy shitty supply's you are more likely to fuck up. Seems like a lot of people say why should a noob invest if he will probably fuck it up anyways BECAUSE HE/SHE WILL BE MORE LIKELY TO SUCCEED WITH NON SHITTY EQUIP.

Totally agree, though you have to consider that not everyone here grows to sell. I'm on my fourth grow and have never sold so much as a popcorn bud.

But I agree about spending. I invested 1k on my first grow (mind you everything is more expensive here in switzerland). Fuck PC grows, etc.

you can have the best of everything, but without any experience your still gonna fuck up. somewhere along the line, period.
no one just walks into this growing top quality dank. i just dont buy it. i think you need a couple grows under your belt before any real investment is taking place.
we all made our mistakes. overwaterd, nute burns etc etc..the best soil and seeds wont cure a nute burn or overwater, and every nebie makes those 2 mistakes in particular, at least it seems.
so spending 5 billz for a first timer...not recommended.
remeber K.I.S.S. kids...keep it simple stupid.

don't agree. I've never overwatered, and only slightly nute-burned on my first grow (but flushed so that was OK). Then again I was also using chem's.

adequate research will stop newbies from making most big mistakes.

it is simply redundant to imply that having shitty equip will be of any benefit the goal is to avoid mistakes and a good setup will help you avoid those mistakes. having shitty equip will only increase the chances of a fuck up, why would you encourage that?

soooo..I dont get it. In one thread I saw you crying about AN being too expensive and getting all emotional and upset when ever somebody posted something positive about AN and how there are less expensive products you can use that will give you the same results. Now in this thread your crying saying people should not cheap out when it comes to their set up and growing, and your getting emotional and upset when people are posting about having good results with less expensive products and systems. Do you just like to cry and moan alot or do you have an actual firm stance you can take on something, just not the opposite side so you can whine like a little girl when people dont agree with you?

To each their own, i'm of the type that agrees with dnkfrmthasoilz statement, and persoanlly, i don't really know what all the fuss is about issues, it's pretty easy tog row cannabis, the only reason i lost 1 of my 4 plants on my first grow, was because i had NOT invested as much as i should, i took a shorcut and bought a £5 2-prong meter, and it's unreliable nature caused me to feed them with a solution of around 3.0. Moment i recieved my digital meter, it was all dandy.

You should probably have read his thread about AN clearer, he was griping about gullible fools (the type that take the first positive sounding forum response as fact) buying a heavily over-priced product, and that the same quality product was available much cheaper. Not a worse product for cheaper, but comparable, wheras cfl's are not a cheaper comparable option to an HPS etc.

how many first time growers with zero knowledge actually check ph, of soil....and water or solution...or even think it exists at all in plant life.
that wasnt me my first time around.

Im sure everyone here would love to have a huge, vastly elaborate, outrageously expensive grow room but...

You gotta make do with what you got.
