Hairs changing colour too early?

i have 3 plants outside (and another 2 seedlings, but those are irrelevant)
my largest plant is about a week or so into flowering, and some of the white hairs on the bud are starting to turn orange!
from what i know (this is my first grow) that shouldn't be happening until the end of flowering... is this normal? the plant is likely a sativa dominant plant based on the leaves and growth.

its not a whole ton of hairs, just a couple here and there, but i am a bit worried.
will my buds still be able to achieve maximum growth and THC production?

thanks

i can have pics up tomorrow
VERY slim chance that it was pollinated, as soon as i saw the balls on the male i isolated it
i just cut it down like 5 minutes ago, no open pollen sacks on it (flowered around the same time as my 2nd plant)
i'll be keeping the leaves as joint filler though, for when i finally get off the baccy

EDIT: i just googled some stuff on hairs changing colour early, apparently some plants do it earlier than others
looks like i'll have to bite the bullet and get a pocket microscope to tell when to harvest

I purchased one of the Radio Shack pocket microscopes last year. The first thing I discovered about it was difficulty in focusing while hand holding it on buds. I was having to hold a bud with one hand while attempting to focus the 'scope with the other, a lot of unnecessary hand contact with the buds and poor results. Others say cut off a small piece of bud for observation purposes but that's not feasible with anything beyond a boutique grow of a few plants.

I went back to my 30X jewelers loupe; convenient, cheap, no touching buds and more than ample magnification for the task.

Chances are the hairs you are seeing is normal. I have had plants outdoors for as long as I can remember and to this day still get some here or there. Hairs do not signify the ripening of the plant by any means it is genetic. If it was pollinated, the calyx would swell out and have a vertical stripe from top to bottom appearing white at first then opening slightly to reveal a seed.

i still like to check my trichomes(and i like my radioshck scope for the most part, it is a pain in the ass till you get the hang of it though) but heres some great info from fdds harvest tutorial that makes the difference pretty clear

we will start with ripeness. most people say to check your trichromes with 30X magnification. i have other ways. when buds are done they look "done". the appearance of the bud changes. the leaves start to hook upwards and become hard and crispy. the calyxes will swell and the hairs will turn brown. you can see a golden tinge to the bud leaves. this is the amber crystals. they start to turn amber on the leaves first.

well thanks for the replies and the info, i think i found the problem though!
my plants just started flowering, and i've still got them on veg nutes
so i decided to not follow the reccomended dosage and up the Part B of the 2 part formula to compensate for the lack of P and K in the nutes
i got home today and saw a ridiculous amount of nute burn on some of the upper fan leaves and bud leaves, so i immediately dumped out that batch of solution and flushed it out thoroughly
hopefully the plant should bounce back fairly soon, and i should be getting some proper flowering nutes (and maybe an additive) tomorrow or on friday.

can anybody tell me how i'll know when to use the flowering additive? i've read around a bit, some people say week 4 or 5 of flowering, others say it depends on the plant/strain/whatever
thanks

I wait till buds have fairly nice development before start any kind of enhancer. I do apply my molasses when budding is noticable, that's just me though, but have had excellent results in the past

yeah dont rush into flowering nutes. wait till the flowers start to form and stuff and than give her nutes if you want. rain water is the way to go though =D
