H2o2??

I see that most growers say to use the higher percentage (29%) h2o2. If I want to use the 3% how much would I put per gallon?

Still pushing that shit huh?.... The question was" can I use 3% h2o2" the answer is no. It has to many stabilizers in it, that are bad for you plants, only use min. 29%.

The stabilisers from what I find are Pharmaceutical grade chemicals that are used for PH stability of the solution.
There is a health fad of ingesting hydrogen peroxide, and they warn against 3% due to upset stomachs.
4 capfulls of 3% to a gal will suffice for general maintenance.
I have had no problem with 3%, but it is not my main steriliser.

The main stabiliser used in low-strengh H2O2 is sodium stannate, which is toxic to plants. Even without stablisers, it is uneconomical to use 3% due to the quantities required (around 17ml/L) for adequate solution sterilisation.

I use regular bleach at 1-2 pipette (not cap drops!) drops per gal every 3-4 days for general maintenance.

I know AL B. does not use this either, and is completely understandable with how easily overdosable bleach is (not because of table salts).
3% or bleach can be used till 30% is acquired. They do strip away organic compounds,so it is a balance to negate harmfull microorganisms, and maintain plant health.

Yep. Sodium hypochlorite is not a good steriliser for hydroponics. Only in emergencies and only in REALLY low doses can you get away with it.

still being a dick, huh?closed minds should come with closed mouths.
Pot calling kettle black I would say. The guy asked if he could use 3% in a cloner not if he should use it in his grow.

As far as me being a dick, I've trolled you a bit and found that your greatest contribution to this site is jumping on post and telling people they dont know what there talking about and you know the best way. You jumped on me about my use of h2o2, I didnt start anything with you. You just got mad cause I didnt back down, and ended up exposing your lack of knowledge in our last debate.

The purpose of this site is to share knowledge and ideas, not to berate others. You look back at what you said to me and decide if you where trying to share knowledge with me, or if you in fact where being a "dickhead" I think you might have to say the latter.
I think I will agree to disagree with you, and I wont post about you or to you anymore,as it has become and will continue to be a waste of my time.

Hey guys, I'm sorry I didn't mean to stir up an argument. I think I did a multitude of things wrong my first time at bat. My pump is to big for the bucket (made the water to hot). I put 2 TBLS of h2o2 in the water. My clones have done absolutely nothing although its only been 3 days I don't think they will root in 85 degree water and I have already ruined them. although they are still standing strong. I guess I will just leave them be for a week at least, give them 10 days at least before I through them all out.:(

You might try running the pump 15min on/ 15 min off & make sure stem tips are not dipping in the water. Use 50% grade H2O2 at 1ml/L of tank volume (or 1.7ml/L if 29-30% H2O2) every 3-4 days.

If the tips are squishy, they've rotted from too much water/too little oxygen. If the cuttings are not fully collapsed, you can recut the stems & try again. Take off any brown or tan stem matter, reduce your pump runtime & apply H2O2 religiously every 3-4 days.

I am running the pump at 15 on and 15 off. the stem tips are about 6" from the water line. The cuttings above and below are still hard and strong, none of them are squishy or have brown spots and the only h2o2 that I have access to at the moment is 3%.

Question?????? I found a pump that will allow me to set it for 10 secs up to 60 secs off and on if I swt the pump for 10 or 15 secs off and on then the pump really shouldnt have time to get to hot right?

The solution for your bucket heat seems simple enough: can you not get a bigger res? Even if I used a 5 gallon pail, I doubt my pump would heat the water up as it cycles.

I think your probably right. I got the new timer put on and I moved the entire system to a cooler room. The temp seems to be staying at 73. I was trying to keep the tops warm and in turn I was keeping the water to warm.:dunce:... Oh well you live and learn. That's not the dumbest thing I've ever done. Sometimes I hit the hookah one to many times.:peace:

Thanks a million to everyone's help. I wouldn't be able to grow the nice fire that I grow if it wasn't for the help and knowledge that I've been given by the people on RIU. Again THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Hydro shops will have stronger H2O2, as will some 'health food' shops (but whatever you do, don't follow any advice given to DRINK the stuff..) and foodservice equipment suppliers, as H2O2 is an effective steriliser for food handling equipment.

You might replace the water pump in your system with an air pump and a bubble curtain airstone. This will get the heat producing device out of your res. Air bubbles breaking the surface will create a fine water mist.
