I feed as often as my plants can handle without getting too much runoff... the plants definitely respond to more feedings as long as you don't give them root rot.

what do you mean by too much run off and also how would they get root rot from burning them with nutes ?

If the soil around the roots stays wet all the time it prevents oxygen from getting to them, causing them to die and allowing rot to take over.

The solution is to ensure you have wet and dry cycles, ie don't water the soil until most of the water from the previous feeding has been absorbed by the plant, and the soil is beginning to dry out.

If your plant is consuming enough water that the soil dries out twice a day, you probably need a bigger pot. If the water is just being lost directly from the soil due to wind or evaporation, consider covering the soil surface to protect it, or switching to solid pots (rather than air or smart pots), as they retain water much better.

Sounds to me like you're just over waterng! What makes you think that you need to water twice a day? How much water do you add? how much run-off do you get? Does the pot feel very light weight before watering?
If you're only adding a quart or so at a time - you are definately over watering. You should be letting them dry out so they need around a gallon at a time - with only a quart or so of run-off.
