It comes from Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian explorer who was the first to postulate that the Americas were not part of India, but a whole new continent(s). Columbus didn't know that.

Touche' then. I thought it had something to do with magazine size. I don't know how the brady bill could have lessened the tragedy. He couldn't have gotten the ammo, or that amount of it?

It would've been less convenient but still entirely possible.

EDIT: It seems only 1.8% of applicants were denied under the "Brady Checks", so I wouldn't value it as much as Buck does.

i'm totally talking about magazine size. they took down loughner when he went to switch magazines. if he acquired everything just the same )legally) and the brady bill was still intact, the damage would have been considerably mitigated.

and just to remind everyone, there were CCW folks on the scene at the gabby giffords massacre. more guns didn't help then. empirical evidence swing and a miss for the gun nuts.

Yeah cos you definately want to draw a gun when the police are looking for an unidentified shooter.

The Brady Bill seemed to include provisions for background checks when purchasing a firearm from a federally licensed dealer.

Where is the provision regarding availability of ammunition or magazine capacity?

That's plausible. 10 round limit with the bill? That correct and he purchased legally it might have limited the spray. I'm afraid he would have gone ahead anyway. All nice and legal, proper like. Stupid can't be fixed.

No one will ever truely know what thought processes led to these tragedies, I just know that if knew everyone else had a gun my trigger finger wouldn't develop an itch. I think the new bill will include some type of vague assault weapon ban that includes just about everything that can recieve a high capacity mag excluding semi automatic pistols but obviously no one needs a high capacity mag.

that's exactly what the CCW folks said too! didn't want to be mistaken as the shooter.

in any case, more guns didn;t help.

yep, 10 round magazine. this is all just "what if", but who knows what would have happened if he had to change his magazine earlier.
